Wanted to make you all aware that there are Palmetto Bugs in the Animal Kingdom Boma rooms...I killed several on 11/21/11 and 11/22/11 in our room on the FIFTH floor...they were huge...my family was scared beyond belief...front desk only offered $75 credit and to send an exterminator...BRING GLUE TRAPS ON YOUR NEXT STAY THERE AND KEEP AN EYE ON THE BATHROOMS...ugh...

Those bugs are scary when you first encounter them but after living in Georgia for over 20 years, they aren't a big deal anymore.

I think what you were offered was fair and I hope you did let them get the exterminator in your room.

Did you have a balcony? That's how they got into my room the last time I stayed at AKL. Silly me left the balcony door open for 2 hours one day while I was resting.

They are a common occurence in the South in all hotels, houses and apartments..I had them ALL THE TIME in my ground floor apartment and other than an exterminator which offered only a temporary solution, not much to do.The fact that they gave you some sort of a credit was nice of them.

They're everywhere in FL, and they're harmless. It's not at all uncommon to come across one in a hotel room.

I bet the front desk is glad that most people just kill the bugs & move on. Could you imagine if everyone who had a bug in their room went to the front desk?

Do you plan on posting this same message on a few more of the boards? Three seems to be enough right now.

ok ok.so there were some of the big P bugs, its always part of life in the south.

I think the offer from diseny was fair..........its not the end of the world.

AKK

PS..did you really post on 3 boards???..........a bit over kill !

Some people will complain about anything. If a mosquito finds it's way into my room this Feb heads WILL roll.

Roaches are everywhere in the south. I know it can be a shock but it does not mean the resort is dirty or someone isn't doing their job, it just means the resort was built on swamp land and the roaches were there first. ;)

I really cannot believe Disney gave a CREDIT for this. Talk about good service!!

I'm really surprised they gave you a credit for this, we've seen them many times in our trips to WDW.

May I ask, what is a Boma room at AKL?

There was a huge palmetto bug at CRT 2 weeks ago, not what I wanted to see at dinner, but I know they're common in FL.

When you say AKL Boma rooms? Are you referring the the bugs being in the restaurant too? or is there a room classification called Boma?

What AJA said. I have bugs galore in our house every spring, summer and fall here in Minnesota.

People leave doors open, bugs come in.

People keep doors closed bugs stay out, very simple. :thumbsup2

Call me a big sissy, I can deal with the " big mouse", but no way on the P bug, i know that this can happen, i just hope one doesn't show up in my room.

Thanks on the tip, when on Balcony, door will stay closed

I have lived in the south all of my life...Charleston, SC up until this past June. Yes, an occasional Palmetto bug is a way of life, however having to kill several in 2 days would make me very upset as well. That is a bit ridiculous!

I swear around here you never get just one. They seem to come in sets of three! I know when I see one, I better be on my toes for another. Then I will see none for a long time, then another set. It really is one of those odd things that just makes you have to laugh.

I'll be at AKL in 8 days. I need to know what the BOMA rooms are. Please explain. Thanks.
