OK. I have to decide between the Beach Club Villas and the Boardwalk Villas. I know I have had wonderful people tell me the pros and cons of each resort but right now they are in a dead heat for my family. So in the spirit of the National Election I would like to take a poll on how many people liked BWV vs BCV if you had to pick today.

So for those of you who have stayed at either resort would you please vote for your favorite! I posted this on the resorts board and then realized I needed to post it to the "home owners".

Thanks so much!

We are going with two kids 5 & 7 and two greatgrandparents 81 & 85 if that has any impact on which resort you would pick!

My home resort is BCV's and is my favorite. We have stayed at the BWV's 2 times and also enjoyed our stay there as well. With out exception our 2nd stay at BWV was in a 1Bd on the 5th floor overlooking the Boardwalk and Lake and it was GREAT. We do not usually spend any time on the balcony but this was the exception. We found ourselves going out regularly for a look and spending time just looking around.
I believe the Great Grandparents would like the Boardwalk for people watching. Depending how well they get around some good relaxing time can be had on the Boardwalk. This may not be necessary but is also a consideration.
The BCV's as I said is my favorite and also convenient to Epcot, MGM and walks around the Lake with a great view in the evenings of the Boardwalk from across the lake.

I do not think you can make a bad decision with these two but because of the Great Grandparants I would pick the BWV's if their mobility is in question at all. There will be more for them to do without going too far. Stores, Dining and Boardwalk activities.

Enjoy

Cmbar, looks like your poll is a pretty good reflection of what will happen in the presidential election! LOL

We own points at both resorts and have stayed at both numerous times. I much prefer BCV over BWV.

Same as us but we prefer the BWV.

One time I spent one night at each resort specifically comparing the two. I had a standard view at BWV and yet, I much preferred the view from there (out across from bus stop, yes it was a long way from the elevator, but much more peaceful and I did see Illuminations). At BCV, I was right by the road, and while there's virtually no noise if the patio door's closed, I'm one who likes to keep the patio door open, and the noise from the road was very irritating. I thought that there were many more nearby eating options at BWV. However, I loved the BCV better. Why? The theming-it appealed to me much more. BWV was too "busy" feeling, more urban. BCV reminded me of summers at the beach, sand under my toes. Also, one little thing I liked was the fact that when I came down the elevator, the doors opened into a quiet lobby area, with a couple nearby reading rooms. At BWV, the elevator doors open and BAM! The hustle-bustle hits you. Some people may prefer that, though-I know BWV is DS's favorite-he likes that hustle-bustle.

So tell us how your family has managed to split their six votes. Just guessing, but I assume that the kids want BCV, the grandparents want BWV and the parents are split?

I'd go with the grandparents' vote. They don't have as many elections left. :)

I can't believe the poll is dead even!! This is no help:rolleyes:

I wish I could tell you the breakdown of my family. My kids don't know the difference between either resort as we have not been to either. They don't know about SAB only we do and that is part of our problem. We know part of SAB will closed while we are there so that is why we are considering switching to BWV but if the weather is great (we go in early Feb) then we might feel sad about not staying there. I agree the Grandparens would probably love the activity around the BWV and as this is their last time going I should go with them.

One last question. I have heard lots of bad room reports about BCV but have not seen too many on BWV. Anyone have a bad report to share about that resort? ALso any construction that is a problem there? Thanks again.

I have seen a few negative issues with BWV. We stayed there last month and had a burned out light bulb, the microwave was gross and the fridge froze my beer in one of the rooms we stayed in. In the other room the shower dripped and the couch cushion had a stain. Nothing I would ever get concerned about. But then again, I have never experienced anything at BCV that I am concerned about. I do believe the resorts have two different "feels" to them and that is why people feel so strongly about them.

SAB is nice, but over-rated. The parking at BCV is much better than at BWV, but it is a long walk from the rooms at BCV to the dock or to Epcot for octogenarians--either way it is as much walking if not more than the longest elevator-to- room walk at BWV. I prefer the room layout at BWV and the standard points option for us close the deal. I voted for BWV...

Appears to me that the race is to close to call. I voted for BCV for reasons that are important to me, but might not be for you.

I have stayed at almost every on property resort -- DVC and otherwise. We enjoyed them all and each for different reasons. You can't go wrong with either BCV or BWV. Just select a resort and go have fun!

I must say i was surprised, i thought BWV would walk away with this, not because it's better but based on it's size and ownership with voting following those lines.

Both are great resorts with perfect location for us. We chose BCV because it is a smaller resort and can be harder to book, and we wanted something a little quieter and SAB. If we wanted action just walk around the lake. The only thing we lose is the chance at standard view rooms and the lower points usually if we do want to stay at BWV.

hey I own at BWV but voted for BCV.

I like the views of Epcot (yes even the woods back door view) better.

BCV is a lovely resort!!!

besides I think the f/w festavial is making a believer in people - yes the BWV is just a few feet more - but after a few :drinking1 and some of these :rockband:

well you would want to :teleport: to your room instead of walking....

I have to say this was a VERY difficult vote for me!;)

I ended up voting for BCV for a couple of reasons:
1) you can make it to a resturant with out going outside. As we all know, downpours occur in Fl, so I love the fact that I can get to dinner (or breakfast for that matter) without soaking a pair of shoes.
2) I LOVE SAB! It is the entire reason we purchased our BCV points. Prior to the building of BCV I would pool hop from BWV for at least one full day, so this pool is not something I could give up!

But, having said all that, for some reason BWV gives me more of a "magic" feeling. Not sure if it is because this was my first "home" or not, but I just get giddy while staying there! I still remember that feeling the day we first came "home" to our two bedroom Boardwalk view unit. :teeth:

For the two reasons you give, I think your decision is obvious.

I would pick BWV because of the grandparents. They will love the 1930's feel - my 80 year old dad and his 79 year old girfriend loved BWV.

Kids will love either resort - so go with the grandparents.

BWV is my fave resort, but I voted for BCV for your trip. SAB is lovely.

We own at both and prefer BWV. We have only stayed at BCV once though, in a studio. So maybe after our trip next month in a one bedroom we will prefer BCV.

I voted BWV. We love it there! We are also going to be there early Feb. We were this time going to check out BCV as we have stayed at BWV the last two times however when I found out a part of SAB will be closed during our stay I switched back to BWV. We'll try BCV when the entire SAB is open. We're bringing my parents down with us and they are soooo excited to be staying at BWV, they just love the look of it and already have planned several evenings at Jellyrolls. :)
