My sister is hoping to become a first time DVC Member!

She put in an offer for BCV but she found out yesterday that she didn't pass ROFR. So it's back to the drawing board!

My sister really wants her home resort to be an EPCOT Area Resort for when she goes to the Food and Wine Festival in the Fall.

She's leaning towards BCV because she has stayed there before. I'm trying to get her to consider BWV but since she has never stayed there, so she is hesitant.

Would love to hear opinions from everyone on BCV vs BWV!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the offer? (points, $/pt) just to get an idea what doesn't pass ROFR at BCV.

Sorry to hear that your sister did not pass ROFR. She should try again. My BCV contract got past but we paid $72 pp.

My opinions only. BWV is great and it's up to $20 less per point than BCV. REALLY dislike the parking and the elevator set up (long hallways) at BWV. I hear that the bus situation is awful at both resorts. All that aside, had I found a contract with the right amount of points and UY I would have put in an offer at BWV. Cannot beat the location for either resort.

270 points, Aug UY, $69 per point, $525 Closing Costs, $936 2012 Annual Due.

Right now we don't see a BCV contract that appeals to us.

But I saw one for BWV, but like I said she's hesitant. She doesn't know if she should wait for a desirable BCV contract to pop up or put in an offer for BWV.

Wow that one didn't pass, huh? If you really want BCV, keep trying for one. I am coming around to the opinion that Disney's ROFR activity has very little to do with price. I think they are striving to compete with the resale market & keeping points "in stock" for the more popular UYs at the sold out resorts. They needed the points, the contract came across their desk and they grabbed them.

In July I passed ROFR on a 200 pt BCV contract, Feb UY, at $65/pp. Good luck finding a contract that works for you.

I've stayed at both, multiple times at BCV, and the bus situation is great. It is much better than AKV, VWL, & SSR. The best part is that you only need the bus for AK, because you can take the monorail to MK by walking through Epcot.

Wouldn't you have to have an annual pass (or at least a park hopper) to be able to take advantage of the monorail at Epcot?

Yes, you do.

Yes you do need one of those. We've always gotten PH because we use them each & every day. We usually go to one of the parks during the day and then stroll over to Epcot in evening. Being so close, BCV or BWV, you can't help it.;)
For us the PH was & is worth every penny for what we do. IMO anyone staying/buying into one of the Epcot resorts would benefit from the PH.

I agree that PH is a must if you stay in an Epcot resort. We stayed at the Yacht Club this past June, and I've never added a PH option as we usually do one park a day. But being so close to Epcot, I was longing each night to go on over there and just enjoy the WS... Plus, with being on the dining plan, it would have been awesome to have enjoyed more restaurants in Epcot...

On the other hand, it probably saved me a few pounds. I have no doubt I would have hit up Boulangerie Patisserie for breakfast each morning!

We have stayed at both BCV and BWV. We ended up buying at BWV because it was much cheaper than BCV--got it for $55/pt--and it has both SV rooms for times when we want to conserve points and BW view for times when we don't.

We also like that the walk between BWV and the two parks is similar. That is important to us. At BCV, the walk to Epcot is easy, peasy...but not so much to DHS.

We have older children and my DH is not a pool fan so SAB wasn't important to us and therefore, didn't play a role when deciding.

If you want the Epcot area, to be honest, I don't think you can go wrong either way, but if SAB is important, then BCV might be a good choice.

We own at BCV, primarily for the pool. At BWV you can get a boardwalk view which I find wonderful. BWV also has 3 bedroom units available, which now that our family is getting older I find a real draw at other resorts. I like that BCV feels smaller. BW can seem so huge depending on where your room is. If I owned at that resort I would have been more upset about the elimination of free valet service. BCV couldn't be easier (ex. OKW and SSR).

It's so hard to predict what someone else will like or not. I love the BWV and dislike intensely BC even though they are in the same basic area. I like having a great view and the boardwalk view is my favorite. I also think its prettier to look over at the Beach club yacht club than the reverse direction. I love the entertainment district ESPN,Jelly Rolls right at my finger tips and sitting on the balcony and watching street performers below me.

I usually valet park and do miss that perk but if you are handicapped its still a perk . I'm on vacation so I will pay to valet.

I'm not a fan of the Bc pool as it is hard to walk around it so what is a pleasure for some is an annoyance for others. You realy have to experience a resort to see if it calls to you. Some are great for a short stay at the last minute but you might feel sorry if you are stuck there all the time when you have a favorite somewhere else..it happens all the time

I made an offer at BCV last week for 250 points, $68 pp, March UY. Sent in deposit and signed contract today. Hoping it passes ROFR. We love BCV for so many reasons. Cape May, Beaches and Cream, Stormalong Bay. We love the short stroll to EPCOT at night for dinners. That said, my second choice would be BWV. The location of these resorts is what makes them both so special. It is such a beautiful area, in the heart of WDW. Each is wonderful in it's own way. Eventually I may get the itch for an add on and would consider BWV for sure.

I believe you really can't go wrong at either resort. As you have read, OP, both resorts have pros and cons but they both have the advantage of being located within the EPCOT area, and for us, that was key in our decision to purchase at BWV. The other "key" was the cost of BWV resale points.
