We are planning a trip next December. Our dates are the 15th - 22nd. We were planning on staying in the BCV, but now I'm undecided, the BWV looks amazing. There are gonna be 8 of us and we are planning on staying in a 2 bedroom villa. We will be traveling with my DS (7, 3 & 1), DH (29), me (26), my mother and father (49), and my sister (21). Would the Boardwalk Villas be a better choice for us or are we better off at the Beach Club?

The kids will love Stormalong Bay, the pool area at BCV. BCV is a terrific spot...close to Epcot and within a 15 minute walk to MGM. It has a nice area called the Marketplace where you can get coffee, soda and various types of food depending on the time of day. Not a true food court but better than what BWV has. Understand, I love BWV...I own there. But getting a quick bite to eat is tough there.
You also have Cape May Restaurant at BC. They have a terrifc character breakfast there. I think you should stick with what you have. You can always just take a walk over to BW and check it out. It is fun to do that at night.

Can't lose with either choice really. For the time of year you are going, Stormalong Bay and pools in general might not be an option. Although the pools are heated. I really liked the BCVs when we stayed there in January. It was very close to Epcot. You could hop over for an hour or two no problem.
If possible, request a dedicated 2 bedroom which would give you 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom. BCV is probably better with small kids--that's just my opinion though. I think it's a little easier to get around than BWVs.

BWV is probably my favorite resort......but I am a single adult....

First, you should scroll down further to the DVC Boards. There are 3 sections there, including a rent board where you can check out the possibility of renting points from members. It is cheaper than paying rack rates through CRO. The other sections have tons of questions/answers about BWV and BCV.

I love the BCV and think you will too!
As others have said, Stormalong Bay will be perfect for little ones the ages of yours. It is by far, the best swimming/play area on property. It is a sand bottom pool with a wonderful tot area, with an area to play and dig in the sand. There are plenty of loungers in the area and you can play and watch them easily. That said, it is also wonderful for adults.
The area is great, convenient, vibrant, close to Epcot and the Boardwalk area. I love the theme of the Beach Club.
We are headed for our third stay in a BCV in 2 weeks and I can't wait.
I think you will be happy with this choice.

I would choose the BWV. In December, swimming might not even be an option. And for kids those ages, SAB can be a very difficult place to keep track of teh kids. The pool at the BW is a better choice for thsoe ages for two reasons--the 7 year old can go down teh slide in a life jacket--not allowed at SAB. Also the pool area is much more compact and easier to keep tabes on teh kids.

The rooms themselves are larger, and you have Community Hall and it's activities for teh older child to go to while the younger ones nap.

IMHO I wouldn't even think twice about it, it's really a no-brainer.

Take into consideration sleeping arrangements. At BCV there are a few rooms that are dedicated 2 b/r, which means the second bedroom has two beds in it (and you have to reserve this specifically). All your other rooms will have a bed and a fold out couch in the second bedroom. At BWV you have no choice, all the 2nd b/r are a lock-off, with a door to the hallway and a bed/couch and an extra kitchenette. Disney won't bring you a roll-a-way bed, so if you need an extra mattress, bring a blow-up one. HTH

That's good to know, thanks!! The second bedroom would be good for my parents and my sister. We were gonna take the master bedroom and sleep with our one year old in between us and my other 2 sons would probably do fine on the pull out bed in the living room. I was going to request a non smoking room, dedicated 2 bedroom. Will they bring a crib or high chair?

There will be a Pack-N-Play and high chair in the closet in your villa when you check in.
