We had a canal view studio, and it was soooo lovely. It was very near the end of the hall that has the stairway going down to the parking lot. Our room was 276, and we would take that studio every time if it was offered. I meant to call down because there was writting on the coffee table, just a child's scribbling, but I forgot. We both did try the "new sort of" sofa bed, and think that it would do to sleep on, the Q was very comfortable, to our liking.

BCV offers many activities, including night movies and campfires on the beach. They give you a schedule and point out the offerings when you check in. All of the CM's that we encountered were pleasant, Dee Dee checked us in.

In VB we had OV room 2319, very nice view of the ocean. We didn't try for the turtle walk lottery because we did have other plans at night. On Wednesday, we went back to EPCOT and joined up with another DVC family and their guests for an Illuminations cruise! Wow!!! What's better than just walking back to BCV after Illuminations? Just being able to sit with an unobstructive view watching them, and then being driven back to the dock in no crowds!! We "found" this family on the Theme Park Boards, and it's the second time that we were lucky enough to be on a specialty cruise. Last year we joined a family (also an OKW, buy in during the early '90's family) for a Wishes cruise!

We tried Squid Lips for the first time, and returned for dinner the next night as well. Delicious crab-lobster cakes. "Trilogy" was entertaining when we went on Thursday, and we would go back there again and again. We had been disappointed with Capt. Hirams in March....that was our usual off site restaurant, and I'm glad we branched out. We ate lunch at Shutters one day and I really enjoyed the grilled Mahi-mahi sandwich, would get it again. Another lunch was pizza from Orchid Pizza which we liked, we've had it before.

We walked along the beach. The ocean was a beautiful color, a blue green associated with the Caribbean. There were waves. It beckoned me, but I'm just a bit chicken now, the waves could topple me, but wait until next year...I'm going to borrow the arms of my DS's 33 and 30, and let them take me in! DH says I don't "trust" him, not so...I do, but he hates the ocean, can't get the idea of the inhabitants out of his mind, and I have always loved to swim in the ocean.

We took the Treasures of Vero Beach walk with CM Matt around the resort one evening. He pointed out the reasons why VB Resort looks as it does. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. We also did go to Sebastian Inlet State Park to visit the Treasure Museum. Admission is only $1 per, and it has an excellent movie presentation telling exactly why that area is called the Treasure Coast. That also helped us appreciate the things that Matt was saying about how Disney incorporated Treasures into the resort.

If anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer what I can.

PS. We came back with our names on a waitlist for BCV points. We both love the resort, I've been willing to take my chances on a once a year visit, but DH can't wait to bring the family. On site, VWL is our first, common love, but BCV comes in closest second for DH, and he's the force behind this potential purchase. We've asked for 100, but Michelle suggested we ask for 25 - 100 and get them as they come in.

Thanks for you report .

We were in Room 170 (6/2-6/9) right at the Canal as well on the pool side. DW really liked the short walk to the DSA . We also would not mind staying in that area as well. Easy walk to bus and parking lot as well not a bad indoor walk to BC area.

We will be trying Vero for the first time in Aug for a few days. DW can't wait as she just like laying out at the beach .

Glad to see you had a great trip Bobbi! Is this the one that MS messed up the reservation for?

We can't wait to get to VB, we're going for Easter!(Read DH is more excited than the rest of us put together.:rotfl: )

As for BCV, my youngest(6yr old son) has a bee in his bonnet about that resort after watching the Great Hotel show on it!

...!

Yes, on April 3rd both the VB room that I was trying to book and the BWV room that I was booked in were lost during the booking process. "Ted" from MS called me on Friday and said they would be able to put us in OV VB for 3 nights. He said they were going to be upgrading the ressie system so that no ressie would be lost while trying to switch.

On Wednesday, I called MS from VB to change a 1 night AKV ressie from Standard view to Value room (just to save the 3 points), the process did take a bit of time. I was told that if there was a Value room available, they would just book it and not come back to me...I said fine, that's what I want. When MS did come back, it was all done, they had a cancellation number as well as a new number for the one night. In April, when they lost the reservation, they didn't even have a cancellation number for me...they just lost the 2 of the 3 nights that I had booked at BWV.

Welcome back, Bobbi! Glad that the bugs were all worked out and your trip was great. We have yet to try BCV. Part of me is afraid that we will like it too much and we absolutely do not want our dues going up again!
P.S. This is candle day...

They had movies and a bonfire at BCV? On the beach in front of BC or the little baby sand area at BCV???

It sounds like a wonderful trip. Welcome Home to BCV.:goodvibes We love it too.

I am "remembering," we walked past the movie screen, didn't stay. Facing the lake...the huge pirate ship would be on the right, the screen faces the left, and people would be sitting on lounge chairs. The campfire beach was to the right of the pirate ship.

The movies were
Sunday Pirates of Caribbean
Monday The Emperor's New Groove
Tuesday The Little Mermaid
Wednesday The Incredibles
Thursday Finding Nemo
Friday Cars
Saturday (today) Lilo and Stitch

Great choices, if you ask me!

You're right...those movies are perfect!

It's either new or we've missed it over many trips including this May! Sounds like a great addition. Thanks.

I think they have added the Infatable Movie screens at all the DVC resorts.

Not sure when it happened but we saw one at SSR as well as BC beach area by the ship /waterslide.

I've read reports of movies on the beach at the Polynesian too over the last months.

Do you mean inflatable? So the screens are actually on the water?

No they are on the beach . But they can just blow them up and then when done let the air out and carry away. They are very cool and you can watch from either side (words are backwards ofcorse on rear side) But it's nice to watch getting off the boat you can see it a bit.

Thanks for the explanation.

I was wondering how it would work with wakes from passing boats.:rotfl:

Bobbi, sounds like a wonderful trip! I have always wanted to do one of those fireworks cruises, how many people on a boat? I am afraid that my 1 1/2 year old wouldn't be good for it and I wouldn't want to ruin anyone else's cruise.

Were you able to see any fireworks from your room at BCV?

 Hi!

10 people are "allowed" on the boat. There was a wedding on the boat next to ours!!! That is, for the actual Illuminations viewing, all 6 boats line up side by side under the footbridge at Epcot. When we pulled up, we noticed a wedding was taking place right next door. When it was time for the traditional kiss, there was lots of cheers for all of the on lookers!

"Our" share of the cruise was $55 + whatever tip we chose to give.

The little ones (under 12 I think) have to wear a life jacket. You know your child best...I know that for the Wishes cruise, where there are more fireworks, it may help the little ones to see fireworks without the big bangs. There was a child around 6 on this one, and she wasn't too sure about all of the noise, she would walk back and forth front to back of the boat.

Our room faced the opposite direction. We saw the canal, and beyond that would be the car entrance toward the BCV, but it was the lights of the buildings reflecting on the water that would hold our gaze as we sat on the balcony.

Hey bobbi... thanks for the great report.... I miss Vero beach...

That's the thing about VB, it calls you back! When will you be there next? We're planning on June '08.

One of our DS's is a lucky guy, think poker, and we sent him a postcard from the museum regarding the gold coins that still sometime wash up along the Treasure Coast.
