BCV trip report(long and not glowing)

Sorry for the problems with the room but I'm just happy to hear how often they shampoo the carpets! I always wear socks (white, as I'm a geek and proud of it!) when walking around in the room and have been absolutely disgusted how dirty they get in some of the nicest hotels. I'm sorry, but to me, shaking some powdered stuff on the rugs to deodorize it before vacuuming is not "cleaning" the carpet.
I have to agree. A crawling kid is the best test for a carpet. I'll take frequent cleaning with the occasional waiting for a wet floor to dry over what most other hotels give you.

I was their Sept. 22, it was 99.2% full(only 1 room available). My room was great. Thats whats great about these boards; you can read others complaints and make decisions on if those complaints will keep you from booking that hotel. So far I haven't read a thing that will keep me from booking BCV's.

Sorry you had a less than stellar check in experience. I assume your second room was fine?

As for the key experience - that can and does happen anywhere so I would have a hard time placing the blame on BCV for that.

I recall that a room key charge of ours wouldn't work until the room was actually done - check out of, done, cleaned, checked etc.

No, the room keys definitely will work as I took $12 in cash with me and DW had $0. We used the key for charging all day at FW and usually do. Our friend that came down Fri used theirs all day also, it was when they changed their room and keys the third time, that worked as keys, that the charge didn't work.

Yeah, our room was fine after we got switched other than the light in the area in front of the closet didn't work and I don't like the motion detecting AC units. Always too warm when you come in and then you wake up at 1:00 freezing because you turned it too far down trying to cool the room. But I accept that, and I know it can be disabled if you call them. I probably would have even forgotten about it then had the same thing not happened to our friends the next day.Fortunately for this trip, the resort was a minor part of the trip. We were there for FW and basically only slept and showered in the room. If it weren't for the fact that you can walk to EPCOT from there, I would pay cash at POR or maybe an OKW studio. We didn't use any of the benefits of BC like SAB and we never eat at Cape May, so it was strictly for its location on this trip. A Motel 6 would have suited us on this trip. Now on our June trip with DD8, DS6, DD5, DD1, MIL, DW, and I, we spent a whole day at the resort and at SAB, that's the WHOLE reason I bought there is the 11 month window at SAB. Beaches and Cream is nice though:D.

Did you call about the light? If not than you should have! Now on the A/C I too hate the way it is set up to work, but I see Disneys reason for it.But I read somewhere that if you have a balloon in the room near the A/C it will stay on and not turn off.Maybe next time you should try BWV for the F/W, it is a bigger resort and "every trip report on it there is never a bad thing said about it".:teeth:

During our June 2004 trip, first stay at BCV and transferred over from OKW, we immediately wished we had stayed at OKW, even the kids felt this way. OKW had similar check in issues - after 5 p.m. before room was actually ready, but once we were there and compared it to our 2br at BCV, we're glad to be going back to OKW in December. I was disappointed with the evident wear and tear on the BCV rooms compared to the OKW rooms which were cleaner and give you much more room in a 2 br anyway. I suppose if BCV are in high demand year-round due to SAB popularity, it stands to reason that the rooms would show quite a bit of wear and tear even though the resort is "newer". Hope your next trip goes better!

Can't wait to retire so I can go to the FWF at Epcot!

Here's a possible cause to this problem. Maybe some of the blame lies in the fact that these rooms aren't usually cleaned every day as they are in the non-DVC resorts.

It seems to me that I've hear general complaints from all DVC resorts (with the possible exception of OKW) on room conditions. I mean if someone checks into one of these rooms and something spills on the carpeting or couch and they don't report it. That might be sitting there for up to 8 days before anyone gets around to attempting to clean it up. I don't know about everyone else, but I have a hard time cleaning out a stain that's been sitting for more than 48hrs.

Another possibility is a fact that I've mentioned in previous posts on this subject. BCV, BWV, and VWL are all attached to non-DVC resorts. My suspicion is that the resort management is more inclined to taking care of problems on the non-DVC side of things than the DVC wing. The reason? Disney already has our money for lodging, whereas the non-DVC resorts need to cater to the very rare Disney visitor.

IMHO...the biggest change that DVC could make would be to have daily cleanings of the rooms included. This way housekeeping may be alerted to some of these things in a more timely fashion.

I do agree that BCV is probably bearing the brunt of the problems due to their continuously high occupation rate.

I am at BCV right now. Room 355. It is in great condition. Everything looks new and the room is clean. Can't wait to stay here again.

By the way, I have stayed at LOTS of hotels lately with this A/C system. This is the wave of the future, get used to it. I have even seen older hotels refitting with this system.

And this place is packed! There is some computer type convention in the YC and it has all of the rooms around here pretty booked. At Swan/Dolphin they even have guards at the parking lot. I also have talked to several guests who re-booked from September so... I think things are FULL in the Epcot area this week.

I couldn't remember exactly where I'd seen the grill before, so I asked one of the bell services/ valet guys where it was. "Oh, sorry, they took that out about a year ago." Oh, no, really? I was a little let down! Well, maybe the boardwalk I guess. "No," he said, "they took them out there, too." Holy cow, really? "Yeah, there's not any on property anywhere." Well, I know they have them at old key west. "Oh, well, maybe they still have them there. But they took them out here." Well, darn, no grill. So out of curisoity I walked around the outside of the building, and there by the canal, were two grills and a picnic table and a couple of benches, just as nice as could be. Maybe they had taken one out some place else or something? Anyway, grilling out went fine.

FYI, there's still a grill and picnic tables at BWV too. (unless they took them out within the past 3 weeks) :wave2: ::yes::

We won a trip to New York in August to see Tim McGraw on Good Morning America and they put us up in the Warwick. It was built in the 1920s and was frequented by the Beatles, Elvis, and was Cary Grant's Manhattan home for 12 years. Anyway, it had been refitted with one of these systems and it was way worse than the Disney ones. I don't think the ACs up there work as well as ours have to down here.

I definitely know that the DVC units get more abuse in the dropped food, spilled drink category. I mean it only makes sense this would happen with a full kitchen available.

It will be interesting to see if the new refrigerator in every room at all resorts results in dirtier carpets and bedding due to spills.

Also I think some, not any DISers;) , allow their children to play more in the rooms due to having more space.
