Faster to take boats or skyliner? Anyone know if boats are operational?

Boats. Boats should be operating.

Boats are faster because you would need to walk or take a boat to a Skyliner station, because the Skyliner does not stop at any of Epcot-area resorts.

True but the Epcot skyliner station is super close to BCV so that’s why I wondered if it might be faster

Faster to walk as waiting for the boat or walking to the Skyliner station adds a bit of time. Having said that, especially in the summer heat, the Skyliner is my preferred mode of transportation from Beach Club to Hollywood Studios. Quiet, cool, beautiful bird's eye view of Disney property.

Our last couple Friendship boat rides to/from DHS have been miserably hot as the boat's AC cannot keep up and with no airflow, the humidity is stifling.

Honestly, in all 3 scenarios; walk, boat, Skyliner, you are talking about a few minutes difference. We choose to take the most pleasurable mode which for us is the Skyliner (unless it has a mid-trip hiccup, which in 20+ trips for us has not happened.)

Many thanks for this excellent answer! Just what I was thinking and I appreciate the confirmation! Thank you!

The walk to the boat dock is nearly as far as the walk to the Epcot Skyliner station. (Google has them at 5 minutes & 6 minutes.)

And while you may wait 15 minutes for the next boat, you're not likely to wait more than a few minutes for the Skyliner.

I was there in January. The CM at the boat dock suggested the Skyliner would be quicker for me because the boat was still 10" out. There was virtually no wait for the Skyliner at Epcot or CBR and it was a great experience. If the boat had been there, it would probably have been similar times, although it takes a while to unload and load guests.

We were there last week. The boats were not running yet.
I would take the Skyliner, minimal if any wait, cooler than the boats and take about the same(ish) amount of time. The only downside is that if there is any lightning/thunder nearby they shut the Skyliner down which may impact your travel choice. I cant remember if the boats stopped during lightning/thunder or not?

I don't believe the YC/BC Friendship dock is open due to the NBA presence. The closest Friendship dock would be BW. If you're going to walk to that dock you might as well skip the boat and continue walking as you're only another 10 - 15 minutes away from HS.

The Skyliner is faster - we timed them at 8 minutes. We did have one stoppage on them for a very short time - don't think it was a minute. We can walk from BC to HS faster than the Boat, taking the boat from Dolphin to HS (they shortened the walk - not because we're fast walkers) but we usually take the boat in hot weather.

About a year ago we were on the boat going from Epcot to DHS for a dining reservation when they pulled into Swan/Dolphin dock and made everyone get off because they didn't run during thunderstorms. We were told there would be bus service to DHS but they didn't know exactly how long it would take until the bus arrived. We had about 40 minutes until our reservation time so we walked and got thoroughly soaked. NOT a magical day.

Another option, depending on your energy level and your wallet, is Uber/Lyft/taxi.

We stay at BWV and walk to HS in under 15 minutes. Beach Club isn't much further.
I'd walk. We did the years when we stayed at Yacht and Beach Club.
