I've been doing searches to try to find size difference but nothing definite between BCV and regular BC hotel room. My sister and I and our two little ones (3& 6) will be taking our first trip home for a long weekend in a BCV Studio. We've stayed many times in a BC hotel room so we wondered size difference.

356 for a studio at BCV
400 for a room at BC

(according to tourguidemike.com)

hth :)

Thanks. Passporter says 380 for standard BC room, I've seen 356 a few times for BCV but many different sizes for BC. A follow up question - if BCV is smaller - I'm trying to get a frame of reference - does it feel much smaller than standard BC room.

I can't remember how large or small our room at the BC felt (we stayed there in 1998). I can say definitively that the BCV studio that we stayed in for 5 nights about 2 weeks ago felt MUCH smaller than the Swan room we stayed in for the weekend. We have decided to try the 1 BDR accomodations the next time that we take a DVC trip.

Edited post because I aked how many you had in the room and I just read another thread that said you were 2 in your Studio. Our whole trip will only be 3 nights with 2 adults, 2 kids (3 & 6). We'll be staying in 1 bedroom in Dec for DH, DD and me, however length and time of this trip I thought studio would be fine and 1 bedroom wasn't worth points for that short period. That being said - opinions?

Bella--we took a tour of BC last November when staying at the Poly just for future reference....the rooms all varied in size. However, we were in WDW last week and managed to see the studio model at BCV and in all honesty, it "felt" the same as the standard rooms we had seen at BC. Me, my DH and 2-year-old DS will be staying in a BCV studio for 7 nights in September and I think we'll be OK. In fact, the studio was larger than I had expected after seeing pics on the Internet. We'll be saving close to $350 for the villa instead of the BC standard room---it's worth it for us.

Will you be spending a lot of time in the studio, or will you just be there to sleep and shower? If you're planning on spending time in the room, I think that it could feel a little cramped. If you're just sleeping there for 3 nights, I think it will be fine! One advantage of the 1 Bedroom is the in-room washer and dryer. For a 3 night trip, this may not be much of an issue though.

I think for a 3 night trip, a studio is fine. It's not like you're going to spend HOURS in the room.

There is probably a slight difference in size between the BCV studio and the BC hotel room, but I didn't think it was that obvious.

As you said, for a short trip, why waste the points???

Just curious, I thought DVC was the "more deluxe route". Anyone know why the studio, which has more ammenities than a regular room would be built smaller in square footage.

I know there is the obvious answer of more rooms to spread the dues over but thought maybe something else.

Also, is the true of all the resorts. I know the studio at BWV seamed spacious but I have never stayed in a regular room, maybe they are huge!
Thanks
Sandy

I've seen figures in the 380's for room size at BC/YC in more than one place, so I am skeptical of the 400 apparently given by tourguidemike.

Re why studios are smaller than BC regular rooms, I don't think they were trying to compete with BC, just building according to their own standards. VWL studios, nearly identical to BCV studios, are bigger than WL standard rooms (356 vs 340 according to www.wdwig.com).

A better question might be why did they build studios at all? I think it was a good idea, but some all-suite resorts and timeshares don't have this option. Perhaps they were just trying to provide flexibility and a variety of accommodations.

Thanks for the feedback and opinions. I feel comfortable with my decision and in 18 days I'll know for sure!:sunny: Yesterday was the first nice day here in some time so I'll just be happy to get away and actually experience the sun for a bit.
