I just called to check availabilty for a quick 4-day trip in May. When none of my choices were available, I asked about rooms paying cash. The same BCV Studio not available to me with my points is available for the "fanastic" (that's what the Member Services rep said) rate of $277.50 plus tax.

OK, before you all start flaming, I know they have their reasons for doing this, but it really still does annoy me.

Just wanted to whine :(

Did you ask about all the DVC resorts? BCV is typically difficult to reserve since it is such a small resort. I would think they might have some nights available somewhere for a DVC studio.

Actually, that is a good price, too.

Did you waitlist?

I posted yesterday about my story. I started calling Tuesday for a studio and/or one bedroom for next Tues and Wed nights. Yes, there were cash rooms avialble. (I did not whine here or to the MS rep, whining gets you no where and once you get out of Kindergarden is really unbecoming LOL!) I just called back every day. Got a 1 Bedroom yesterday and I am pretty sure it was released BACK to points from cash. (Generally if the CM has to call I think that's what's happening.)

No flames from me....it is definitely frustrating, but at least you are aware that there are different inventories that are seperate. Kind of like a Hotel side to every DVC resort. Are you considering a waitlist? I think I have heard that occasionally they will release those rooms to points...but not sure how that works or how often they do it.

For the record, if a room wasn't available I don't think I would ever ask about it being available OOP, just because I don't really want to know or be annoyed...lol

May is a great time to go! I hope you went on a waitlist for BCV (that's where we'll be) and took whatever DVC studio was available. I would be happy to get anywhere in May if I was booking this close to check in.

I share your frustration! Last January Southwest offered me a great deal on airfare, so I wanted to book a last minute trip to BCV. Like you, BCV wasn't available on points, but was available at the expensive (I thought) cash "discount" rate. I took the cash rate, but later I laughed at my choice. Yes, I had a very inexpensive airfare, but with the cash price at BCV, it turned out to be a very expensive trip. I agree about waitlisting.
