BCV split-stay

Hello all,

I am going to be trying to make a reservation for the Beach Club Villas pretty soon. Originally, the plan was to get 8 nights in a 1-bedroom. I've been watching airline prices and looking at Southwest rates, found that "possibly" if we extend our trip by 1 night (leaving a day earlier) we may be able to save a good $300-$400 on airfare.

BCV 1-bedrooms eat up a lot of points, though, so another night definitely goes beyond what we'd like to spend point-wise on this trip.

So, my idea is to split the new "9-night trip" into 2 reservations. If we stay at a BCV studio for 2 nights and then move to a 1-bedroom for the other 7 nights, I believe we'll only need to spend 2 more points (not too bad)



I need some advice to ease my wife's concerns.

a) Any good advice for how to have available from our luggage what we need for those 1st 2 nights, but have easy re-packing for the mid-trip move?

b) Being in the same resort, how easy should it be to check-out/check-in on the move day? How does timing usually work?

I don't know how much I would want to move after only 2 nights. Also, you will have to be checked out by the usual time and check in at the usual time. So you will be "homeless" for 4-6 hours on your move day.

If you were going to split your stay, do you have any interest in trying a different resort. I know at times for short stays, people have luck with Value rooms at AKL or standard rooms at BWV, both would be point savers.

In Dec. my DD and I stayed in a studio our first night at BCV and then switched to a 2 br lockout when my brother and his family joined us the next day. I packed the clothes that we needed for the one day near the top of the suitcase and didn't bother to unpack everything else until I moved the next day. The next morning, I called the bellman and checked our luggage until we were ready to move into our new room. It was fairly easy to check out and then in again. We left for the parks and returned a few hours later when the room was ready. It was a fairly easy process.

We did split stays that last two summers. When I packed, I simply packed for those nights. We took two suitcases--one for the first 3 nights and one for the 2nd 3 nights. This way, I didn't even need to touch the 2nd case.

I even went to the local dollar store and purchased some things so that I didn't have to move them to the 2nd location (toothbrush, floss, etc.) It made it really easy as each suit case had their own items.

We unpacked when we got there and then just put the dirty clothes back in because we were going from a studio at BCV to a 1 bedroom at BLT. Tre he night before the move, there really wasn't much to pack, other than the swim suits.
