To view the Epcot fireworks, would it be better to request the canal or the woods view?

The woods view rooms face toward Epcot, so you would want to request that view. The canal view faces toward the parking lot and away from Epcot. The view will be obscured by trees, though. But if you are lucky you'll be able to see the high fireworks through the trees. I better vantage point is the view from the middle of the bridge between the BC and BWI. :)

Now that we've talked about it more, we're concerned the fireworks might be after our DD 4 goes to bed and would wake her up. Alternately, is the parking lot noisy if we request the canal view?

The fireworks are loud and can be heard just about anywhere, since they are so close by. The section of the BCV's that is close to the road can get a lot of traffic noise. I would request a room that is close to the lobby so that you are far from the noisy road.

Are the woods rooms close to the road or the canal rooms? I only have woods or canal view rooms to choose from.

The canal rooms may be close to the road. The woods view rooms face in the opposite direction.
The fireworks are loud everywhere at BCV. I have been awakened by them in the past.
We have stayed in both areas and enjoyed both.
If you want to make a request other than woods view or canal view you can call the reservation line and have it noted.

We stayed in a BCV 2-bedroom last April. We were on the first floor, "woods" side, close to the lobby and I really loved it. I actually don't recall hearing the fireworks and, if we did, the Illuminations fireworks aren't very loud until the very end. The WORST fireworks noise was in BWV over Christmas when they did the Star Wars fireworks at midnight - it shook our room and sounded like artillery fire IN our room. It was awful. I spoke to a woman staying at YC and she had the same experience. Unfortunately, unless you are staying at AK, you can't really escape the fireworks noise at any of the deluxe resorts.

When we stayed on the 5th floor of Beach Club in Club Level, the EPCOT fireworks were loud enough that I was sitting on the potty the first night and the toilet SHOOK. So, yeah, it was loud. BUT, we stayed for 9 nights, I think (?) and it never woke up my 2 & 4 year olds.
