I didn't see a thread on this on the DVC boards, but I saw this today over on the Resorts board:

To summarize:

According to a Dis'er who claims to be a Beach Club (Not BCV) CM, BC is currently being renovated and BCV renovations will start in Oct and be completed in Feb '09. Also, according to this CM, it is a "soft goods" refurb (bedding, curtains, carpeting, tvs, etc.).

In a perfect world, owners shouldn't even notice that sort of refurb. Things shouldn't get to such poor condition that guests notice how bad they are even before a refurb.

It is interesting that (at least according to this report) they are planning to do all of the rooms at once. Maybe it's just me but it seems the fiscally responsible approach is to give attention to rooms on an as-needed basis rather than just doing 200+ rooms for the heck of it. After all, the resort is barely 6 years old. :confused3

So would you say this is newsworthy Tim? ;)

They already changed out all the mattresses and sleeper sofas last year. And I thought they changed out the sheets to higher thread count sheets last summer as well.

Hm do you know what month(s) they changed the mattresses? We were there in Sept. and had a hard time with ours - like sleeping on the floor. I have been considering buying a foam topper to take with us down there.

I know our unit did not have a new sleeper couch, it was old and worn out. So perhaps we have a better bed to look forward to this Sept? :)

I will have to say that on one visit BCV had the hardest Beds I have ever tried to sleep in. It was like Concrete. I didn't sleep all week.

Grumpy

We stay at BCV 3 or 4 times/year and the villas are maintained on a regular basis. This past trip was the first time I didn't encounter a painter. Ditto carpet cleaning. As others have said, new mattresses, sleepers, towels and sheets all were added in the last year. And I imagine if drapes were damaged, etc. in a particular villa, they have some backups available.

Installing new carpet in one fell swoop does seem more cost effective as well as less intrusive to guests. And buying new drapes, bedspreads in bulk should be more cost effective as well.

BTW, I don't the poster in that thread isn't a current CM.

That's pretty much my point...this report doesn't make much sense given how DVC historically operates.
