BCV pool closing and remodeling

We just found out that BCV will be closing part of Stormalong bay in addition to remodeling the lobby and some rooms when we are staying there in early Feb 2015. I'm really bummed because we chose BCV because of the pool and close proximity to Epcot. I'm actually kind of upset that they didn't tell me this when I made my reservations. They certainly knew at the time.

Has anyone stayed at a resort during remodeling? Should we try to switch resorts or will the disruption be minimal?

It seems this comes up at least a couple of times a year. Resorts tend to do remodels and refurbishments during the off season. If it's a big deal and you can get something more suitable, I'd change. As for letting you know, MS may not have have known even if the resort did. Historically they haven't been particularly proactive on such matters nor especially sympathetic. They may give you BW pool access if the pool is affected at the time of your trip. Agree or disagree, this is the Disney/DVC way on such matters.

We're going in January dieing the rehab, and didn't consider changing. It looks like the slide and te slide entry part of the pool are going to be closed. But we're only going for a long weekend and know the chances of swimming might be slim anyway. We've also stayed there a few times, and know we will stay there again in the future. Might have a different attitude of this was a one time shot stay.
