BCV owners do I need to book day by day?

We just bought into the BCV and plan on getting a studio for 10 nights in Oct 2008.:woohoo: Will I have a problem getting all 10 nights at once at the 11 month mark since it is during F&W? Thought someone with past experience could tell me if I will need to book day by day, I would hate to have to waitlist some of the days.

Thanks.:)

I would without a doubt. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your purchase. I don't know about your question. My gut feeling is no, you don't have to, but it is better to be safe, and since it's a 10 day stay, why don't you plan on doing a day by day.

I don't have any experience in Oct. but how about a compromise... break it up and call every few days since it such a long stretch.

I would only if you wanted a standard or BW view. You are only competing against other BW owners at the 11 month window. I wanted a standard studio for this October and did do a day by day, but really didn't have too (I think). I agree, doing it every couple of days might be easier.

I would if there's something specific about the villa you're requesting. Never having stayed there, I don't know if there are different categories, but I have seen posts regarding 2 queen-sized beds vs ? for some of the villas. Remember that the time you're wanting to travel is one of the most popular because of F & W. :thumbsup2

There'll be other opinions on this, but I never book day by day and I always book during food & wine.

I've not had to call day by day for October at BCV. But DVC Grammy has a point about 2 BR dedicated with 2 Qs. It might be necessary for those villas as there are only 25 of them.

Congratulations on your purchase. :thumbsup2

Besides Food and Wine, we also have a national holiday Columbus Day that month. If your 10 days are the week before or after that holiday, I would definitely book day by day.

We have not stayed at BCV that time of year yet, but if I was planning it, I would book the day by day myself. Good luck!

Well... I seem to be the odd one out lately in posts, but we always book DBD... I mean, why not? One phone call per day and your chances are greatly improved.... and heck it's just fun. No, really... Frankly, waiting until the last day to book your whole stay is not being careful. Just the way we do things. Try to leave as little to chance as possible.

IMHO, you don't need to call day by day at 11 months for a studio at the BCV for an October vacation.

But it doesn't hurt and if it makes you feel better, than just go ahead and do it. I hate the thought of a waitlist, so I understand how you might feel.

I agree. If I already know at more than 11 months out when I am going and where I want to stay, I try to book DBD. I am out here on the west coast, so I don't set the alarm or anything, but if I didn't call I would worry all day about whether someone has grabbed MY reservation! Of course, some days I do forget or get too busy and that's okay too!

We couldn't be bothered calling day by day at 11 months. Its not going to be a problem that far out. And why waste my time, along with MS time, making a call each day.

I think it's the "10 day" that makes it sort of necessary. There are lots of folks going for partial times during that period and when the dust is settled, there could be a day, like a Sunday, in the middle of your stay that is booked. I'm a cautious person, and we bought add on BCV points so I could book day by day when I know for sure when we want to go.

I don't own at BCV but I do at BWV. My experience has been that it is very difficult to get BWV if you don't book it as early as possible for F & W. I tend to procrastinate so I never seem to get around to making my reservations at the 11 month window. I think this year I did it at around 8-8 1/2 months. I just got the last day I needed of a two week reservation about a month ago from the waitlist. It was for a Sunday night. For some reason the sunday nights are the most difficult to get. Since BCV is much smaller than BWV I would opt for the call day by day scenario especially if you have specific special requests. Last year we ended up having to move to a different resort twice during our 2 weeks because I waited too long to book. They were at OKW & SSR and I only got all the dates I needed by waitlisting almost half the days we needed. The Sunday nights were the tough ones then too.

My experience this year....(we have points at bwv and bcv) we wanted a 2br with 2 queens in Oct. Made my weekday (10-16 thru 10-19) ressie 9 months out. Added fri and sat nights day by day at 7 months (didn't have enough points) and got it. Found out friends will be there the same time as us and added one night (fri 10-19) in a 1br on 9-15. They told me 10-20 was also available.

I think if you are flexible you wil have no problem at 11 months. However as others have said....if you know you want something exact book it day by day. FWIW, I have found BWV and BCV increasingly difficult to book during Food and Wine Festival. I guess the secret is out:cool2:

I just called today to book a Boardwalk View studio for 6 nights in June and all but one of the nights was available...this is almost 9 months away (over 8 months) and there is limited availability. So...to answer your question...yes, I would book day by day if you want standard or boardwalk view.

But the OP wants BCV not standard or Baordwalk view at BWV. And she's booking 11 months out no 8.5 or 9 like you and karrit.

I think if all of us who own at BCV start calling day by day at 11 months, the wait to get through at MS will just get worse and end up increasing dues for everyone.

I also don't think F&W is necessarily worse than other popular times. People want BCV from March-October for SAB. Around the holidays they want it for proximity to two parks. April-May there's the F&G show. Really, people are always saying they're trying for BCV for this or that reason despite "loving" their home resort.:confused3

I do think the idea of breaking it into two might make the OP feel better.

Sorry, my mistake. I saw BCV and thought BWV. My brain obviously isn't working well today yet.

We booked 2 separate Sun-Fri stays last year in a BCV studio during F&W at less than 11 months with no problem. We also booked a week this year during F&W at less than 11 months (maybe around 10?) and had no problem. I didn't book day by day for any reservation. Maybe we were just lucky?
