Hello all , we are BCV owners since 2002 , this is our first stay at SSR 2 adults 50'ish and not doing any parks for a 8 night stay. We just want to relax and hang at the pool as well as go to Disney Springs and maybe visit other resort bars ,lol. We are staying in a studio. I would appreciate any recommendations from SSR vets on the resort and anyone who has done a non park stay for things to do . Thanks

We stay at SSR often as it's fairly easy to get a studio and love it's proximity to Disney Springs. We were there a for a week just before Xmas. In terms of things to do not park related.... You can resort hop, take an Uber and go to the Outlets, use the Spa (at a cost), use the gym (it's very nice and large with a full complement of equipment).

If you have a vehicle, there are lots of non-park things to do in Orlando as there are in any major city.

If you don't have a vehicle, then on WDW property you can do miniature golf, bowling, movie, take a car-boat ride, rent a boat or bicycle, and many other things. For an 8 night trip, you might run out of new things to do, though you certainly won't exhaust the dining options at Disney Springs.

Enjoy your trip!

Enjoy some bowling at Splitsville and try to see one of the final performances of La Nouba. The Monorail Crawl and resort/lounge hopping are favorite pastimes. Enjoy!

At SSR we really love to play shuffle board. You can get the equipment from the community center. There you can also get bean bags for corn hole, pool cues, and shuffle puck among other games. There are two great pools at SSR, but the Paddock Pool has the best slide by far.

I also agree that you should request the Paddock area. Staying there enables you to have a more private experience at SSR--it won't feel like a ginormous resort. It is really a beautiful Disney resort and the trails over to Disney Springs are lovely to walk and then you have all that that area has to offer. Have fun!

Walk over to OKW and have breakfast or lunch at Olivia's. A really beautiful walk.

The spa is fabulous; we did a couples massage last week and it was great. We love the GrandStand area with it’s easy access to the boats and pools/Artist Palette (they have a great lobster roll at the moment).
I’ll also second Monorail resort hopping; try it progressive dinner fashion (apps and cocktails at Poly, dinner at GF, and then dessert at TOWL if you are eligible).
Enjoy!

Take the boat ride up to the French Quarter they have some entertainment up there. Also the movie prices are about $5.00 a person if you see a movie before 12.

We have stayed at SSR quiet a few times. Once I went with my dd. When her friend decided to join us last minute, they went and their own to the parks and I did not activate my AP. Last March DH and I also went for 5 nights - no parks. Last minute trip/had nothing planned and we also did not activate our APs.

We walk every morning. We took morning walks to OKW and to Disney Springs. Some days we hung out by the pool during the day. We resort hopped for meals, AKL to view the animals and free tour of Boma and Jiko. Movies, Splitsville for bowling, BW area for meals and entertainment . Same thing with Disney Springs - meals and entertainment at night. TOWL for drinks and viewing fireworks in the evening. One day we took a ride to Vero Beach with our friends (they have a second home there). You can do as little or as much as you want.........took our time and relaxed - we needed it.
