We just got back from the BCV Sept 11-14 (our first trip home) and I have to say the staff there were very friendly! We got several "welcome homes" from the staff. One CM saw me holding the check in packet and came right up, said welcome home, asked if there was anything she could do for us. Maybe its b/c we dont have any other DVC resort to compare it to? But I have to say the CMs were more friendly there than our last trip to the Poly (concierge) 01/04. (We were every year visitors for many years while DD was growing up. Always stayed on property, need the whole Disney experience...)
Our 1 br villa was clean, cleaner than I expected due to less frequent mousekeeping. It showed some signs of wear (ripped carpet at threshold to master bath), but no worse than what Ive seen at the Poly.
We were disappointed in the Cape May. It used to be an every trip for us, but we havent been in a couple of years, and the food in MHO had slipped. Food was tepid, and the clams were full of grit. California Grill was good, we liked the new check in system, less crowded up there. It was a splurge for our 24th anniversary, the mgr came over and wished us happy anniversary which was nice. Watched Wishes from our table, pretty magical! Also ate at Yachtsman Steakhouse, I think that will replace Cali Grill in the future, the food was awesome! (DH isnt such a fan of foo-foo stuff, give him meat and potatoes...) We mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary this trip, and they brought out a complimentary plate of cookies for desert, which we thought was a nice touch. Glad we got our DDE card, its getting a workout!
Bus and ferry transportation was great, a short wait each trip. Only problem we had was getting back to BCV from the CR after dinner. We left about an hour after wishes was over, but still had a mob scene trying to get back home. Walked to Epcot, but didnt find the shorter path out of BCV until we were home and studied the map. Oh well, next time!
I cant say enough how happy DH and I are to finally be members. To have such a beautiful room waiting for you at the end of the day is a treat. The jetted tub was great for DH's aching back. We even slept in one morning, knowing that we will be back in Jan. The funny thing is, I have wanted to join for years. DH wouldnt hear of it. Now I think he is even more excited than I am about our membership!
