BCV or BWV

Just wanted to clarify for others reading here that only the BW Inn (hotel) rooms have been refurbished. The BW Villas (DVC) rooms have just begun refurbishment, and we haven’t seen them yet. The decor will probably be similar to the Inn side, but it’s difficult to compare the Villas side with BCV since there may or may not be structural work done at BWV in addition to updated decor.
You know I didn't even think about this. I just kinda assumed it would be the same. But yes I guess there's a chance it's similar in nature to PVB where the cash side rooms are, in my opinion, nicer than the DVC side. I think if it's even semi-close I still like the look of BWV over BCV, although again I've only seen BC through video and pictures.

I also am not a fan of the layout of the LO rooms at BWV - I prefer going to the 2nd bedroom/studio at the front of the unit, not back by the balcony. If you have someone sleeping in the living room (we didn’t this time), you’d have to walk past them all the time. The lock off-only 2br ended up being the thing that tipped us from buying BWV as our first contract.

For all the times we stayed at BCV when even 1 kid didn’t want to go down the pirate slide (or was in a stroller), I had to come back here and post when people talked about SAB like it was the end-all and be-all. Pool time was not fun time for many years. And even though DH and I took turns with the littler kid, I was that wet person squelching through the lobby with a toddler in a (wet) umbrella stroller.

We’ve stayed in studios/1br/2br LO at BWV now, and studio and 2br dedicated at BCV. It’s really a toss up now that we are out of strollers and the kids are strong enough swimmers to enjoy SAB without the parents having to keep an eye out the whole time. THAT SAID - while SAB is fun we really only hang out near the area where the pirate slide comes out, since if we are at the pool we are mostly going down the slide. In concept, SAB is great, in practice, we go on the slide and some lazy river. Getting food at the pool is also a LOT easier at BWV.

I really dislike the LO layout and the difficulty of booking 2br at BWV, though. But I love the vibe of the BW area and the shops (including the art gallery, even though I will probably never buy anything there!) and how the DVC wing is just as - or more - convenient to everything, rather than being hidden away like Rochester’s wife.

I think now my *slightly* preferred resort is BCV - I like the 2br layout better, it’s closer to Skyliner and Epcot. This may also be because we just stayed at BWV 2 months ago! But if I were looking to buy between the two, I’d buy BWV points (certainly they are cheaper, but even at the same price, a BWV point can go a LONG way in a standard room), and then if I wanted a change I’d book BCV every once in a while. As it is, we seem to end up at BWV/BCV when we are being points misers and we have never not had a waitlist come through in the summer, which is when you want to use the pools anyway. This last time we ended up in a standard 2br and also a BWV 2br - we really enjoyed both and the larger balconies.

(Ultimately we bought at other resorts that have longer expiration dates, and one out of 3 or 4 stays we’ll switch at 7 months if the switching looks good. BWV and BCV are definitely in that rotation.)
Agree, really not a fan of the lock-off setup. I especially didn’t love that there was only one real bed in the second bedroom since it’s a studio, but I’m okay with it now that we’re getting Murphy beds. I love so much about BWV that I’m willing to overlook that though. We stayed there for Princess this year, and it was so nice to see my family waving at me when I ran by on the Boardwalk. The location made it relatively easy for DH to bring the kids down to see me. We’ve done one stay in a GV there so far and loved it. I really like the single story GV layout compared to two story. I may change my mind if we ever stay at the VDH GV though.

We got a BWV 2br off the waitlist - we have now stayed in standard, p/g and BWV units, and while I really like the convenience of standard units (equivalently easy walk to the bus stop, pools, HS, BW, EP) I really really loved the view from the BW view. Not enough to go through the process of buying points, but I will definitely consider waitlisting BW view in the future!

Team waitlist in the house 😂 I have 4 nights in a BW studio BW view but I also have 2 at beach club for the first 2 nights so I’m debating between doing 2 nights at BCV and 2 at BWV or doing 4 at BW. Have never stayed at BCV so I’ll probably keep those 2 but I really want a third night in a BCV studio the night before 🙏

We have stayed at BCV several times, and we own at BWV.

For us (65+), BWV's was our add-on choice a few years back, especially since the scary clown is gone. FF is our new fav restaurant. SAB pool is not important to us anymore and is more of a headache to use. BWV pool is perfect for our occasional dips. I love balcony mornings with my pot of coffee, and hands down watching the Skyliner from our standard view rooms beats the lackluster BCV views.

One pro for BCV is the parking. So convenient being tucked in right behind the villas.

IMO, if SAB and laid back quiet is important, than BCV. If point miser and more adult activities is important, than BWV. Either way, enjoy your decision and don;t look back.

We are in our 50s with young kids. DH and I are probably a little split - he says BCV, I saw BWV, let's call the whole thing off ...
BW view was a real game changer though. We cheered for families playing games on the boardwalk and watched fireworks after the kids (who were exhausted from being up since 4:30am on arrival day) were asleep.

And Flying Fish is one of my favorite restaurants on property. SO good.

I would go with BWV. We stayed at BCV and BWV a couple years ago, and the only thing we liked about BCV was the QC options and SAB. We didn’t like the room locations at all. At BWV, we loved the BW view and weren’t really bothered by blah pool. To us, it was pretty much the same as most other resort pools, just less aesthetics. Being on the BW was the highlight for us, and we asked for higher floor so noise wasn’t an issue, even with our room being right over Big River Grille.
