I'm planning to purchase around 30 direct points of either BCV or BWV. I'm struggling to decided where my new "home" resort will be for roughly 2 days a year. I absolutely love BCV. I've stayed there as a guest many times with my aunt who is an owner.

The point chart at BWV is sooooo much more appealing, though. The problem is that I've never stayed at BWV's before. I've watched YouTube videos, read blogs and read posts, but it's been years since I've set foot on the resort.

BCV has a special place in my heart. I have had family photos taken on the grounds and my kids adore it. It's also going to take all of my 30 points to stay there for two days a year. I feel like I'd need to buy 32 points just to make sure I have enough points for two days a year. I love the pool...but at $245 a point....$210 is so much more affordable and the elusive standard rooms could mean 3 nights a year.

I know that only I can make this decision. I'm making myself absolutely nuts. My husband too, LOL! I wish I lived closer and could experience BWV's for a weekend to see if it's my kind of resort. Any insights would be appreciated. Once my membership account is created for my recent resale purchase (hopefully this week), I'm going to put myself out of misery and make a decision.

People walk Standard Studios so if the point values are so appealing, realize you may be paying points for pool/garden view which is probably in line with BCV’s points.

I think the BCV is more in line with your heart. It’s the one I think I would buy in your place. I would get the few extra points you think you may need. Bite the bullet and enjoy BCV.

I own at both. I think it comes down to one easy thought...do you need Stormalong Bay enough to pay extra for it?

Imho, BWV has everything anyone needs....except an exceptional pool...which is why I added on recently at BCV. We always had pool envy.

If the pool means little to you, go with BWV.
If the pool means a lot, go with BCV.

It's really as simple as that. :teacher:

Go with what makes you the most happy. Are you more excited to try for 3 days a year or the idea of making more memories BC? BC is an extra $50/yr buy-in, but the dues will be $15 cheaper. So the price difference is roughly $35 more a year to do BC. If it’s the ultimate place you love- go for it. Yolo 😊

I think everyone has already said it, BCV if you love it. You can always try and book BWV with your resale points. It's possible depending on time of year and how flexible you are with dates and room types.

I prefer BCV over BWV since you can go from the villas to the marketplace for food and drinks without being out in the open like the walk to Boardwalk bakery.

I really enjoy the quiet pool at BCV too. I know it’s not a big difference but the walk to and from Epcot being shorter is great plus it is a little closer to the Skyliner for HS if not walking.

Both are 2042 so with only buying 30 points the extra cost for BCV is small!

You state a preference for BCV but are considering BWV because the "point chart at BWV is sooooo much more appealing." I know what the point chart says but it is not a basis for purchasing BWV. That lower point standard view at BWV on which that opinion is based is mostly science fiction. For most of the year with BWV, when you go online at exactly 8 a.m. at 11 months out and attempt to get a standard view studio, you will likely not get it. The issue you will have is that your computer needs to communicate faster with Disney's computer than everyone else's computer at exactly 8 a.m. Within nanoseconds after 8 a.m. the rooms will be full and you will have usually lost the battle of instant computer communication.

In other words, do not buy BWV if intent is to get standard view studios because you will be disappointed if you do so. Some mention "walking" the reservation where you begin making a reservation sometime before the time you want to reserve and then "walk" to your desired dates via daily modifications of your reservation. That itself raises two issues: (a) do you really want to spend your life constantly changing your reservation every day for possibly months in order to get the reservation you want, and (b) BWV's 11-month problem is so bad that it is often impossible to find a date that you can make a reservation on which to begin a walk.

BCV studios are usually open well beyond the 11-month window. Only rarely has it ever demonstrated an 11-month problem for studios -- a few times over the years during the first week of Dec and time around NYE (the two highest DVC demand times of the year at WDW).

Am I the only one who enjoys the BWV pool? Good bar, good slide, great atmosphere...
We own at BW and love it. I find storm along bay over rated. It’s really hard to watch little kids there too it’s so sprawling. I feel you can’t go wrong with either choice. I think the tipping point for me would be the price and the ability to book more days with my points potentially so I’d choose BWV.

I would just add to this that BCV studios are completely booked from now until the 7 month-mark. So if you really want to stay there, then that 11-month window is crucial.

It sounds like you want BCV, so that's where I would buy. The golden rule "buy where you really want to stay" is very appropriate here. The price difference of $35 per point isn't nothing, but the $1000 more you will spend for BCV will give you a lot of piece of mind if that is the place you truly love. Imagine spending all of the money to buy BWV and then constantly regretting the decision because you really want to be at BCV. I would say spend the extra money and get the place your heart wants.

Great advice! My personality isn't one to try to "walk" a room because it goes against the spirit of the reservation system.

Believe it or not, my kids love the Quiet Pool just as much as Stormalong Bay. I've made up my mind, thanks to all of your advice, and I'm going to purchase 32 direct BCV points. I should get my membership email any day now, so I can bite the bulllet and purchase it!

It's good to know that the studios are available beyond the 11 month window!

Let us know when! I’ll be happy to give you a huge BCV welcome!

Will do! The Hubs just signed off on my decision (I didn't give him the price tag), so I'm stalking my emails for my new membership email to come across! I'll be contacting my guide once I get that email!

Sooooooo, quick update. If you read this post earlier today, I found a 40 point BWV contract with an August UY. I was lucky enough to snag it and felt good about it...until I started thinking about not being able to take my kids to the Beach Club...and make new memories. My kids still talk about the Beach Club and how they love the pool and resort. It was a great deal, but not what I wanted. It was also a different UY that I had which was going to make everything really messy.

So, I just emailed my broker and canceled my "offer" and will be buying BCV direct once my membership is created. I've deleted the resale apps from my phone and removed my bookmarks. I'm DONE with resale. Thanks again for your advice. Reading your posts again has made me realize I made the right decision.

Lol! Congratulations! You made the right decision.

I was on the fence between a few and ended up with BWV for my second resort. My husband eventually said, Buy what (else) you love. And I did. (This was after he did not agree to my add-on itis for a few weeks and he had come around and even managed to open my eyes up to other options I wouldn't have considered by myself. That lasted only temporarily.) I had lots of personal reasons to choose BW when I decided. BC had a very warm, classy, family-friendly vibe but I didn't really need the pool etc. No family history there either. Rather, I'm looking for fun when I go on a DW trip to Boardwalk and my family/friends who I would go with are more of the offbeat non-traditional type looking for action/entertainment. The problem is I had some crushes on some other resorts like BCV and so it was a very hard thing to just choose one right now! :) But I went with what i knew and let’s see where I end up. Maybe I will be renting or 7 month browsing. No decision is completely final, even though it feels that way. I was like this with my college major as well!!
Just want you to know, I get it! Now, log off and sleep well!

It’s personal preference, having stayed at both, both are some of my favourite hotels anywhere but we prefer BWV for the atmosphere and pool over BCV. Stormalomg Bay looks good but unless you have young kids the gamut of bridges to get anywhere and the sheer busyness of it means we actually prefer the BWV pool.
Added to that BWV points are cheaper to buy and (the biggie) owners have access to the best points value in the whole of WDW with those standard rooms (I’ve got 1 and 2 beds at 7 though) means it would be BWV for me no question. However it‘s a totally personal answer. With young kids I can see why you’d pick BCV, and there is no ‘wrong choice’ here. I’d have bought BWV were it not for contract length so I stick with SSR!
