BCV or AKV - Easier to Rent Unused Points

Which location would it be easier to unload extra points? I want to add-on at either BCV or AKV. I like the extra time on AKV but think BCV would be easier to rent with its location near Epcot.

AKV may be easier until the initial hoopla of a new resort wears off, but in the long run I would bet on BCV.

Of course, we can only speculate just how popular AKV will be a few years down the road. I'm certain I will like it better than BCV, but the masses will probably want the location of an Epcot resort. :)

Since we haven't stayed at AK yet, certainly not the villas, I feel a little one sided, but... We own at BCV, and I had no problem renting my Points out the handful of times we did it. I think BCV will probably remain #1 for a good while as far as rentals go.

I went into the AK lobby on our last trip, and it was beautiful. I think it would be so fun to stay there. I think its theming is so unique that only certain people will LOVE it though. Beach Club is fairly universal and fits a Florida vacation really well. Plus, it is in a great central location within the Disney complex. That may be why it is so popular.

I really don't think you should choose based on renting out your Points though. I am sure you will be able to rent them, if you need to. It just might take you longer at some resorts than others. You might have to lower your asking price...fair enough.

My best advice is choose based on which resort you like the most, and I do believe if you like AKV, the additional years are a big "pro" for that resort. The point of buying in is to actually go on the vacations, so I suggest you not worry too much about renting. We have a problem with that - thinking we may not be going every year. We NEED to start going and not just "Disney Dreaming." Good luck with your decision.

Just some food for thought :thumbsup2

So, do you need a commercial renter tag added to your name???? Don't plan on purchasing with the idea of renting out on a regular basis. Just not wise. Purchase with the plan on taking the best vacations you can.

Why are you offering to tag them? Are you the tag fairy?????

As far as purchasing with the idea of renting, well, worked pretty good for me. It was a big win in fact. All the Deb and Bills in the world aren't going to stop this.

OP, I'd say intially AKV will be renting for top dollar but I'd have to agree with MG that BCV will have long term rental appeal. Now if you are buying for a combination to rent and use I'd say go with whatever resort you'd want to stay at most.

p.s. If you want a tag maybe Greenban would be willing to let you into his "professional renters" club.:thumbsup2

BCV - the only thing that AKV has that would make it more in demand is the conceirge villa and those things will be very, very hard to get. So I don't think a renter will find anyone willing to rent them.

BWV standard view will be easier than conceirge at AKV.

Which brings up a scary thought...
I would hate to see Members making concierge ressies and renting them on ebay... :scared1:

So, I would probably just transfer points to other DVC owners that I know before losing them if it came to that.

I like to know my options ahead of time that's why I asked the question.

You do know that you are only allowed one transfer.

true about the concierge level. i am guessing there are at least a handful of people (like me) who would jump on the opportunity to rent a savannah view room for nearly 1/3 the regular price.

I'm already preparing myself for the fury that this will unleash here on the DVC boards. Oh yes, it's gonna happen. We all know it. I get a sick feeling just thinking about it.

I'll pay $250 for a studio that is concierge, no problem. Whats the cheapest you can get concierge for at any deluxe, maybe $375 discounted?

I just get a sick feeling about all the problems and abuses we'll see with AKV. On the other hand, it'll be fun to watch the fireworks.:happytv:

Interesting to see that things don't change with all the emotional responses above. I relish the early AKV rentals as they will give a lot of interest to this board and as a side benefit, needle those that just can't stand to see rentals in general.

It is already starting to be honest. We have a certain poster who has AKV points for rent for ther nice price of $16/pp.

As for pre-booking concierge level rooms? Well, if I was going to do that (which I have no plans to yet) I'd do that elsehwere.

Why subject yourself to the abuse for a couple of bucks?
