BCV Non-Epcot View?

What's the deal with the "other side" of the BCV's? How come all the talk is always about the Top Floor, Epcot view? It seems (but this is my first trip, so enlighten me!) that the view over the lake over to the BWV's would also be beautiful.

I'm just coming onto my 2 weeks out and want to pin down a room request (knowing I may not get what I ask for anyway). I just can't see why everyone would want to overlook the parking lot...Am I missing something terribly obvious to everyone else?

We'll be staying in a 2BR, if anyone has any specific room recommendations. Thanks in advance - I really do need some solid advice.

The quiet pool view is very nice. I only heard noise one night out of six. Someone was swimming around 1:30 am and was a little noisy. Not a big deal though. I happen to wake up and was then aware of the noise, no one else in the group heard it. I assumed the "pool people" had a late arrival, perhaps from overseas, and were wide awake.

We could see the canal, pool and parking lot. But the parking lot was in the background and not an issue. I would enjoy that view in the future.

The way the BCV are situated there is no lake view. If there was one, I am sure a lot of people would want that instead of a Epcot/Fireworks view. There views basically are:

Pool
Garden / Epcot
Woods / Epcot
Courtyard

I am also interested in hearing others experiences with non Illuminations viewing villas at BCV. From what I gather the Illumination view villas not only have a Illuminations view but also most of the rooms have a view of the road. Although I love a villa with an Illuminations view and have gotten them many times at BWV, it is not worth it to me if the balcony also includes a busy road view. I have my first stay at BCV in 16 days and I am really looking forward to staying at this resort. I purposely requested a quiet pool view because I do not want to be anywhere near the road, was this a good choice? I do not even really care about viewing the quiet pool I just do not want a room overlooking the road. Facing the woods, courtyard etc is fine with me, so is either non smoking or smoking. What do you think should I do: just request any non Illuminations view villa or keep my quiet pool view? Are they any group of room views that would be closer to SAB? Thanks for any help!

I'm still plugging for that courtyard view!! Beautiful lawn, something going on at the front entrance most of the time (but this is to the side, not right in front of you). Looking across at the beautiful BC resort. We loved it.

I also have a question for those choosing a view of the quiet pool. In most cases, don't you also have a view of the self-parking lot? I know it's across the canal, but is it visible from the rooms?

Personally, I loved having the quiet pool view. Yes, you can see the parking lot. But really, what's in front of the parking lot is so nice that I barely noticed it was there. The pool is lovely, as are the wooden walkways on either side over the canal, the canal itself (if you're lucky, a view of Mr. Alligator), and at night the strung lights make the view even nicer. When am I going back again?

Since the building is angled it depends where in any view you get on how much you will see. For example, we had the pool view and we were on the angle that faced the pool and canal. We had to turn to the right to see the parking lot.

To the left was the pool, straightahead was the canal and to the right was the parking lot.

I'm guessing this would be true of the Epcot side where the road is. I think you could get an Epcot view and be angled away from the road.

Terry - a HUGE thank you coming your way - from the maps I've seen, i never would have guessed you couldn't see the lake from "that side" of the BCV.

DeeP - See you at check-in! Hopefully by then, I'll have this all straight in my head. SAB is also key for us, so if you hear any more (not thru this thread) - would you be so kind as to forward it my way? I had asked about that before and got limited replies.

We have had both views at BCV -

Quiet Pool view was very nice, and we loved the sunsets:

Epcot View was also very nice. We loved seeing Space Ship Earth (especially at night):

But the road is right there, and if you look down you see it (we were on the 4th floor). We could also hear it, but it did not bother us. We were right over the canal, and it was a haul to the elevators.

Here's the view from the room: (not looking down at road):

and one that includes the road:

Next trip I've requested Pool view, near elevators. That gets you to SAB fairly quickly, and having had both views, I think I'd prefer the pool, at least every other trip! :)

We've had quiet pool view and courtyard view, and much preferred the courtyard view. It was quieter and fun to people watch.

JuJuJasmine... You are certainly welcome.

My favorite view is the one that Targel has posted in pictures 2, 3 and 4. Our family really enjoyed everything about that view. Spaceship Earth is directly in front of your room. I would stand at the kitchen counter or lay in bed and just look at Spaceship Earth. Alley the alligator was also right below our room and the kids enjoyed seeing him every day. Oh and the fireworks at night were spectacular. The road didn't bother us a bit!

Having said all that, unfortunatly there were no rooms on a higher floor with 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom that had that view. So we moved a bit down the hall on our last stay and missed the canel and the alligator a bit. We did have a room with a huge balcony and a great view of illuminations though.

DeeP... We have also stayed on the Epcot side of the resort with a view of Illuminations that did not have a view of the road. This is the view that they refer to as Woods/Wetlands. Half of the woods/wetlands rooms (because of the angle of the resort) have a view of illuminations also. From the higher rooms you also see the tops of some of the countries. This is a very queit area view. If you like woods, you would love this view, I don't really care for looking at woods so this didn't interest me at all.

My vote also goes to "quiet pool near elevators." We were in #412 and it was GREAT, convenient, quiet and right across from the laundry room which was ideal as it's a studio. Also fun to watch hubby and kids swim while I relaxed on the (tiny) balcony.

Have fun -- this is a lovely resort all around.

Thanks, all you BCV folks, you made my future request really easy! We will be at BCV for one night. Main purpose: using SAB, going to Cape May, soaking in the BCV ambiance, before a big BWV stay. I had pretty much decided that with 4 kids wanting to try SAB, closer to elevators would be best. Quiet pool view sounds very excellent! We will go back to BCV after BWV for 3 nights -- sounds like a good time to try an Epcot Illum. view just for comparison... although after a pool view / close to elevator, I may change my mind! In any case, I'll be at WDW, so I'll be happy!

Thanks again (and THANKS for those pictures -- they really do say a thousand words! I think seeing them made me realize I like ALL the views!) Sure beats looking at my dead grass getting crispy in the August heat!

We had a 1 BR, 5th floor, pool view, room #558 and it was near the elevators. We also discovered that it was close to the Epcot walkway. In the mornings we would go out on our balcony (Quite a nice size balcony, since the bedroom and living area each had a sliding door). We were at the angle that we really looked out over the pool. To the right we saw the canal(and we did watch the resident alligator!!!!) and even more to the right was the parking lot. I would request that room (and any lose to it) in a heartbeat!!!!:D

Thanks to everyone for their responses. The quiet pool view villas sound perfect, I am gong to keep my request for this view--I can't wait to stay at this resort. YC/BC has always been one of my favorite deluxe resorts and now with DVC villas it is even better! I just hope the torrential rain is over in FL so I can make use of the fantastic SAB--I LOVE this pool!

I jsut returned (literally, will post a report tomorrow) from BCV. I was surprised to learn that quiet pool is the top view request. I was "prebooked" in a quiet pool but asked for Epcot because of Illuminations views. That said it was nice, but in the future I don't think that will be my choice.

Here is a link with some room reports and it will give you some view comments. http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/beachclub.pdf
As others have said, asking for a specific room and getting it is slim. This will give you an idea of “sectional views”.

The files are in adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

I will be updating the reports later this week, as I hace several e-mails wiating for me.

Good luck
Sandy

We had a quiet pool view, 2nd floor looking right in the middle of the pool. We liked it as our dd like to lay out and we could keep an eye on her. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony, but the summer sun was quite hot in the afternoon.

We have never made any room requests other than non-smoking. We have enjoyed all our rooms at BCV, VWL and BWV.

We recently returned from BCV - 2 stays on either side of the cruise. The first stay was Epcot view (woods). No problem, very nice and fun to see fireworks. The second stay was a courtyard view with a corner room by the elevators. This was really great because the room was larger than the other room.

I think any view would be great, especially when compared to the view out of my office door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The road (Epcot Resorts Blvd) is not "busy". There are occasional service vehicles and CM traffic but very little guest traffic. Seldom would anyone staying at e.g. BC wish to drive to BW or vice versa. Just about the only guests that would drive along this section of the road are those BC/BCV guests who know that it's shorter to Buena Vista Drive to go past BW than past S/D. (OOPS, forget I said that! )

We stayed in room 566 (a studio) in June for one night. It is a corner room and the balcony for this room is really large. The view was over the quiet pool. The one caveat I have concerning this room is that it shares a wall with the elevator. We found the elevator motor noise extremely obtrusive, although it did subside considerably after 11:00 p.m. Otherwise, the room was fine; no complaints.
