We are staying at BCV this Spring(2 bedroom). We have asked to be close to elevator and lobby ( I know its only a request) because one member has medical needs (we frequently stay at Disney)-at least once a year- and they have always been more than accomodating. This is our first time at BCV and we were wondering if you get a room near the lobby and elevator- what would the view be? While accomodations are a first priority We don't want to be looking at a parking lot for that expense. Would a pool view be near the lobby or BC resort/elevator? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Is the BCV large and spread out? :)

I'm sorry but I never understand the need to be close to an elevator because of any special needs. You have to get to the bus stop if you are taking the bus, you have to get to the boat if you are taking the boat, you have to get to the car if you are driving. Then you have to get from the bus/boat/car to the theme park. Usually the distance from the furthest room to the elevator is still closer than walking to the boat or bus stop. Like I said, it's just something I haven't understood yet.

Anyway, at BCV there are two sets of elevators - one near the main lobby area, the other towards the end of the hallway going to the parking lot. There are rooms on both sides of the hallway, so you could have a pool view which may also be a view of the parking lot OR you could have a garden view which would also have a view of the BC building OR you could have a woods view that might also give you a view of the Illuminations fireworks at night (but not always) or a view of the road that goes around the BCV towards the BWI/BWV.

The BCV isn't really known for the view - when it was built it was tucked into a part of the castmember parking lot.

And lots of DVC members who own at BCV go yearly or more frequently. We used to go at least two times a year; once we went four times in a year. If you are not a DVC member, your request may be further down the list than the member who owns there.

We had a 2BR lockoff that was essentially next to the elevator and a woods view. It was very convenient although there still will be quite a walk from the BC lobby and for any transportation. As was mentioned you could end up with any of the views.

Here are a couple of pics:

I personally can understand the request and will explain from my POV. The points you mentioned about walking are the main reasons for the request. Of course some depends on the medical needs which of course no one needs to explain, but here's a couple of examples. When we were at BC my DH was using a scooter b/c he had a knee operation just a couple of weeks before. As far as mobility it wasn't a problem but it can be a bit confining having to go further down the halls, and troublesome if you meet others - especially those with luggage or a bellman or have maid carts to go by. Not that DH can't steer well, but it can be tight or something needs to get moved to get by. So, not a big deal on that one, just nice to be closer to the elevators.

When my mother goes along she needs a wheelchair. As a pusher it's nice to have anything taken off the distance because there is going to be so much more walking in order to get to transportation, restaurants etc. Also, in most instances at Disney you are pushing a wheelchair over hard surfaces where it rolls easily. Once you get into the hotel hallways it's carpet and there's much more resistance and it's harder to push. It then is nice to not have to have that added workout on top of everything else.

My sister has used a wheelchair for almost 40 years now. Again - as a pusher it's nice to cut off whatever distance you can.

There are rooms near the elevator and rooms way down the hall. All are available so one should request what they feel will work best for them, whatever the reason.

Last year we had a 2br near elevator (not requested) and had a view of the quiet pool off to the left but mostly the view was of the parking lot.

This year we were near the other elevator (again, not requested), our view was of the sidewalk that ran from the BCV entrance over to the BC.

No matter where you stay at BCV, you have a pretty long walk to everything.

You should request first floor near an exit and you'll have more options available than just two elevators, request rooms 101,102,104,107,123 or 124.
I think you would be very happy if your lucky enough to get one of those.
All are very close to an exit directly to the outside and as close as possible to the BC Lobby.
Don't get hung up on the view, there are no spectacular views at BCV.

I was in the studio portion of that lockoff once and it is very convenient to the elevator, and a great view of Illuminations. I also had a courtyard view once, just a few steps to the left of the elevator (not the sharp left as to the above room). Here's the view from that one-

All pool views are going to contain views of the parking lot because of where the BCVs were built, in the parking lot.

As skelooch said there are no spectacular views so ask for a location near an elevator or exit.

There are no "great" views of Illuminations at BVC - just partial ones of the higher fireworks. If you want a truly great (ergo, FULL) view, go to proper resort: BWV.

Sorry my use of the word "great" offended you. I personnally thought the view was great. Guess I was wrong.
