My wife and I checked into BCV for four days before the Inaugural cruise on the Dream. Then the fun began.

First off I never use my charge card around WDW, I always charge everything to the room.

checked-in ok, room card #1. I checked-in on-line

1) Tried to charge a the store at BCV, no charging allowed

Got room card #2 - My wife could charge on her room card

2) Tried to charge at Cape May Buffet, no charging allowed

Got room card #3

3) Tried to charge at store again, denied.

Got room card #4

4) Tried to charge at candy store on boardwalk, denied.

Got room card #5

5) Card would not open door to room

Got room card #6

6) Tried to charge at Beaches and Cream, turned down

Night front desk manager checked us out and then back in again, I waited 60 minutes and then headed up to the room 11:30 pm. New cards were slipped under the door, no charging allowed.

Went to leave on the last day and maid came to the door for trash and tidy. I explained that we were checking out and she stated that she had us down for one more day.

I checked with the front desk and when the night manager checked us out and back in again she extended our stay by one night and took 15 points from my account.

After I checked my account on-line, I had 45 holding points that I did not have before. The manager canceled my reservation and put the points into holding and drew another 60 points to pay for the re-booked reservations.

It took two hours with MS to get things straighten-out.

Whitney at MS was a lifesaver!

I suggest you monitor your points very carefully!

These stories make me think online booking will be the worst nightmare of all. :scared1:

Bummer.

We never online check in, and we never charge to our room.

I had a similar situation.

I had a 11 month window SSR booked (i think 12-21 - 12-24)I called at 7 month window and switched to BC. Instead of using my SSR points they used some trasfered in BC points.
I imed. told them, nope I am using those for Mem. day. They switched it back to my SSR points, and boom all the BC points were unusable. My ressie for Memorial day was on hold from 11 month window until early Jan, and the 16 points I had left trying to use them at 7 month window in Aug mixing with my SSR points.. opps unuable. Currently i have BLT on hold waiting on IT to fix it.
They kept my ressie on hold for months, and they said no worries it is on hold again.. but still stinks.. Waiting for the email to show up.
If it goes away I will be disappointed, but not suprised.. I think there are lots of errors people miss. If my DH had called he would have no idea and went with it.

I love it!!!

That is a great sentiment

Ah man, you guys with your checkin horror stories lately...this one and the other person today at Kidani.....ugh!

I'm freekin' out about our Oct. trip.....I'm not only double checkin' I may be triple/quad checkin everything weeks before our trip.

I wonder if it all has to do with the new DVC computer upgrades/systems they trying to implement and the website for dvc members.

Hummm....I hope they work out the kinks sooner than later.

Wow, you are very patient. Sorry to hear about all the problems.

I have always had trouble at check-in at BCV. We have been there four times, and there has always been a problem with something. Our last trip (November), we used online check-in and they didn't have anything ready for us when we got there late that night.

Luckily, all the fun in the parks makes up for the annoying front desk and non-working non-charging keys experience, right? At least for us, the parks always took our minds off the inconvenience of when all of our groceries "disappeared" after we checked in, etc. I actually had to rent a car to buy MORE groceries! That was a few years back.

I hope you had a wonderful trip despite all the issues! Glad you got your points squared away in the end!

Unfortunatly many front desk CMs at the "blended resorts" are not well triained in the DVC so by all reports they create more problems than they fix.

I was thinking the same thing. Reading to many of these lately.

WHOA ! ! ! And you sound so patient through it all!

We have always monitor our points for just that reason, but it is easy for us - it must be a full time job for you! :)

We all need to enjoy the Whitneys that life presents to us, and to be careful of not letting the incompetent blind us.

We had a similar thing happen when we checked-in in December. We didn't do online check-in, but we left our credit card on file when we arrived at AKL-Jambo. We went down to Mara to eat lunch, and the cashier told us there was no charging on our KTTW card. Thankfully, we had another form of payment with us.

The front desk was able to resolve the issue pretty quickly. We were told there was a glitch in the new system that was causing credit cards not to be linked properly.

I think you hit the nail on the head! BCV front desk staff seemed like they didn't have a clue on how points work. By their action, they did not understand that the cancellation would create holding points.

What is really crazy is that my wife could charge but I could not. :confused3

:scared1: I'd like to hear the rest of that story. If it doesn't bring back too many bad memories....

Sorry, but I have not experienced this at all. We had no problem at AKLV Jambo House over xmas week and had done online check-in for the first time. I found desk person very knowledgeable and helpful on check-in and at check out when I wanted to use disney visa reward for our charges. I have also had the same experience with BCV. I have been a member since 1994 when OKW was the only DVC and so I have had alot of front desk experiences..have never seen what you suggest.

sorry for all your trouble....I know I would have been extremely pissed at all of my wasted time.

So far all of my trips have been great....I hope it stays that way.
I'll never book online or use online checkin....probably don't matter though.

I have to disagree with you on this. We have stayed at the BCV more times than I can count and everytime the CM's at check-in knew exactly how DVC works. In fact, they even had a special check-in for a while located on the first floor of the villas exclusively for checking into the villas.

It sounds like the person/people you worked with were uninformed, but I honestly don't think the BCV in general lacks an understanding of how DVC works. The villas have been there long enough that there are many people who know how the process works. In fact many of them are DVC members themselves.

Now over to AKL! We stayed there when Kidani was in the early construction phase and the Jambo villas had not been open too long. Oh My! Those people had not a clue in the world! I had a CM and a MANAGER tell me that my room wasn't ready so they couldn't give me my room key which also had my dining plan and park passes on it! I had to explain to them that indeed they could give me my room key, but not reveal the room number. It took another CM to come over and tell them that I was correct.

There just seems to be so many horror stories with reservations since the new reservation system was changed last fall. I had a week long hassle with my reservation at Christmas time, (which included room keys never working, cards not accepting meal credits and then disappearing meal credits) that I am not planning or even thinking about a future Disney vacation. It left such a sour taste, but I am sure that time will heal all wounds.

It sounded to me like they had accidently coded your card as a minors card or there was some other glitch that was only restricting your card from charging privileges. So, even when they would reissue the cards, the same restriction was programmed on the card (it was never a "card" problem, so the reissue didn't work).

I think the nightmare of points with cancellation and rebooking has happened before at other resorts and will often happen at any shared resort where a CM or manager might not think about the consequences of that action. It is easy to use the normal trouble shooting procedure of redoing the check in process, but forgetting that it is on points and not on cash. Either way, MS was able to get it corrected and any time there is an anamoly with your stay that has the front desk messing with reservations, I would check my account.

We had the holding point issue about a year ago. The Front Desk modified our reservation for some reason and put our points in holding and used new points. Didn't know about it until I got a call from MS because they were trying to fill our wait list for a different reservation and we didn't have enough regular points. It took 2 hours plus a call back on the next day to get it fixed. :sad2:
