BCV & Ebay...Wow!

Anyone see the 25. pt BCV contract currently up on ebay? It's at about $105 per point right now with 5 days left.

At $105 per point I think it will pass ROFR.

Nothing on eBay would surprise me. I believe there was another contract a while back that supposedly sold for $120+. A more relevant question would be whether the contract actually closes.

Also, don't bet the farm on any small contract passing ROFR. Disney has been exercising ROFR frequently on 25 and 50-point contracts, seemingly regardless of price.

I did see this item and did place a bid just to get things going. However not interested at the $105 per point plus closing cost of $420 adding about $17 per point to the cost.

I tried to purchase a 25 point contract through the TSS and Disney excersided it's ROR, which was not a great suprise to me.

I've been looking for a BCV contract between 50-100 points but no luck yet. Hopefully Jerry at the TSS will find something soon.

I didn't have a chance to do a search, but I think this same person sold another small contract very recently on ebay or maybe it is the same contract and it never closed the first time. We are ND fans so the name had stuck out at me.

The seller has (had?) many contracts - our recent purchase was a 50 point contract he had. I personally spoke with him several times and he mentioned what he had available and I verified it through a FL website that listed properties.

We bought from him, also. The last couple of contracts he's sold on ebay have gone for way over $100 per point, plus maintenance and closing costs. I'm glad we bought from him before he starting getting that much per point, or I'm sure he wouldn't have accepted our offer! He told me he rents a ton of points (I believe he said 4000). Maybe he's tired of the rental biz and wants to get rid of his contracts.

I think it would be interesting if ROFR worked both ways.
In other words, if a contract came in at a high price, Disney could tell the seller to get lost and say "WE will sell them a contract for $120 a point!"

Sounds great, but then they'd have to have the points - which they don't - and they'd have to sell a 25 point stand-alone contract - which they won't.

When you think about it, it's really quite a valuable little contract.

Very smart seller too - staring it at $1 with no reserve. I can't wait to see where it finishes (and maybe get on the waiting list if it goes high enough ).

1. I bid $95/pt and got outbid. Got outbid at $100/pt. Now, I'm at $105.

2. Budget wise, if I plan to go every 2-3 years (my girl just turned 3), 25pts makes alot of sense due to the lower upfront and lower maintenance cost.

3. At $9-$12 per point to rent the difference from other members is fairly inexpensive if I maintain the travel every 2-3 years.

4. Assuming $105 stands and I'm "in," I can buy small blocks (25-50pts) at market rate from Disney if I decide to do so.

5. On the back end, to get out, smaller points tend to move more quickly and seemingly with less discount as compared to the 150+ blocks.

there is a BCV listing on ebay now that is only at $88.00 a point but.......its 470 points so its alot of cash . Wouldn't 470 BCV points be fantastic

I just do not understand why anyone would pay over $95 per point even for a small contract when you can buy direct from DVC for that amount (if you are a non-member) and not pay for closing. Folks here have reported being able to buy sold-out resorts direct from DVC even though they are not existing members. Or buy via resale broker for no more than $95/point + closing.

If you are a non-member you can't purchase anything less than 150 points, regardless of which resort you want.

The ability to purchase a small contract may replace the need to finance a larger one. If you finance 90% of a 150 point contract @ $92 per point @ 7% interest per year, you would wind up paying almost $4,900 in interest. That adds over $32 per point to the price.

Purchasing for $105 per point and paying closing costs is actually cheaper than how a good number of people actually buy in. Is it the cheapest way? Absolutely not, but I can defiitely understand why someone would do it.

ended up being $115/pt. I bid $113/pt...with one minute to go...on Easter Sunday...AND still got outbid. Wow!

I bet even at that price it will not pass Disney's ROFR if it was purchased by a non member. Disney just does not like non members getting those small contracts. Good luck to who ever won the auction.

We don't know all the variables involved. It could be someone is interested in getting the smallest contract possible, not just to use for DVC, but for the other benefits.

AP discounts are not guaranteed, but right now for spending a little over $3000 this buyer could also be be planning on getting a discount on several AP's savings hundreds. Say they're a family of 4 who go to WDW several times a year and buy AP's. The savings there could make a dent in that $3000 purchase price.

Just a thought.
