BCV dues

I have the information at home, so I can't give you exact number, but it is about $3.80 to $3.90 per point.

I just received a "prospectus" today that said "estimated" 2002 dues are $3.77 per poiont.

Thanks for the info. So, if I were to buy points there, when would I start paying dues? The month after I join, or not until next January??

Normally when you buy directly from Disney, your annual dues are prorated, beginning with the date you sign the papers. In the past, DVC didn't begin selling a resort until after the resort was available for occupancy. Since sales began at BCV before it opened, BCV is a little different.

The amount and timing of your maintenance dues will depend on your use year. Dues for 2002 will be prorated, beginning with the day you close or the first day of your use year, whichever comes later.

We've bought into BCV with a use year of June, and were told that we would have to pay half a years dues in January.
Dues are $3.7681/point.

Carole, When do you receive your first set of points, June 2002 or June 2003?

We bought an add-on at BCV and our paperwork stated $3.77. Quality Assurance told me yesterday that our dues would be prorated to start with our use year, which is September. So I expect to pay around $100 in 2002 and then a full-years dues in 2003.

Thanks for all of the info. everyone. We are waiting to hear if Disney allows a resale we made an offer on (at VB) But, I'm also considering flying down to Orlando and buying at BCV before the price increase. I'm from NY and found out you can't buy over the phone. I wish I knew if the other resale was a no-go since I really don't want to purchase both this month. Well, I do, but does my checkbook? :) We were at Disney at Easter as guests of our DVC friends at BWV for 3 days and then 6 days at VB. We should've done it then but we weren't in Orlando long enough. We were cramming every available second into Park Hopping. Looking back, it would've been easy for DH and I to drive back from VB to sign the papers and take the day off from the kids. Our friends would've helped out for sure. I just didn't think of it at the time. Plus, when we got home, that's when we got serious about buying. One way or another, hopefully soon, we will become members!

Actually, there is some misinformation here according to what I was told by our guide. Dues for BCV begin the later of JULY 1 (they can't charge dues until the resort opens) or the beginning of your 2002 use year. We have a June use year (i.e., before July 1) and will receive our allotment of points for 2002 as of June 1, but only to be used for reservations on or after July 1, 2002. Our dues will begin on July 1, 2002 and we will pay for the remainder of 2002 the regular monthly dues prorated for the 6 remaining months of 2002.

Hi!
I'm a new member, 300 points at the BVC and I was told that my payments would be $247 plus dues. I'm using direct debit paying the mortgage and dues each month. I was told that the dues will be pro-rated for the rest of the year.
I expected to pay the mortgage and dues together anyway but now I'm wondering if I'll get one big bill for 6months worth of dues or does pro-rated mean you'll have to pay dues and mortgage for 6 months even if you wanted to pay dues all at once in January?
Sorry if this is confusing!!

If you are paying dues by direct debit, I think you can only pay the dues month by month. When your payments start you will have your mortgage payment and your dues payment come out of your account each month. Depending on your use month, you will just get a dues debit each month for the rest of the year. For use months that occur in the first 7 months of the year (use years that begin on or before July 1), the proration will just be paying only six months of dues (one debit each month for the rest of 2002) rather than twelve months of dues. For later use months, I am not sure how you will be charged, but it is my understanding at least that dues will not start until the beginning of your use year and then you will just make your normal monthly dues payment for the rest of the year (and thereby be paying a prorated amount).
