BCV DDP question

We're planning on being on the DDP for 10 days in July. My cousin is going to join us for a night or two. We'll all be hanging around the pool and she might go by herself. She'll sleep with us but there's no way she's getting a 10 day dining plan. Are the requirements (all or none) for the dining the same at DVC? Is there a guest pass at stormalong bay if we didn't put her on the room? Can we add her to the room after we're checked in? We have 4 people in a 2 BR so occupancy isn't a factor.

Honestly, I would strongly suggest calling MS and ask these questions because there is some process/rule potential issue(s) in this situation as described.

There are no guest passes to SAB and if you are under the requirement for guests in a 2 brv normally they would say add the name to the reservation. But in this situation you cant add the name as it will affect your DDP so I am uncertain how to advise you other than to call and explain the situation to MS and see what they say. My guess is they will say your guest will not be allowed in to SAB as they wont be on the reservation but I could be wrong.

If you should call MS be sure to reply back and update us, so we all know for future like situations.

This is one of the drawbacks of the DDP. The rules are for everyone in the room for the entire length of the reservation. The DDP wasn't designed to be flexible, it was designed as part of a cash package to simulate the increasingly popular all inclusive resorts. Cash guests (except for international travelers) rarely stay at Disney more than a week, usually less, and rarely have additional guests popping in and out during their stay.

DDP isn't always the best fit for a DVC. Personally, since you have a 10 day stay, I'd drop the DDP and have one adult in your party get an AP, then purchase the TIW discount card.

We have the TIW card anyway for drinks and any extra meals so we might just go that route.

I know guess passes was the wrong way to phrase that and I know there was a thread closed about a b-day party last year where people staying on property had a lot of off property people coming to the pool-that's not my situation. I just figured the front desk at BC would be more allowing than the B&W rules as laid out in the dining plan if someone explained their situation and they just ran off another room key without the dining or something.

This is just me, but I'd wait and ask concierge at your resort if you could get a room key cut for her for the two days she is there.

I had a concierge CM do something for me that was totally, 100% NOT policy, I just explained the situation and said "I know you may not be able to do this, but I was wondering if there is any way...." :wizard: They did not even hesitate. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

In a case like this, you are not cheating occupancy or trying to fleece the DDP, so I think it's a reasonable request - but in my experience, live and in-person concierge CMs have lots more flexibility than CRO or MS call center employees.

Hey I would like to know what happened so please post what is decided. Curious minds want to know. :goodvibes

While individual CMs are empowered to make decisions on the fly, the policy is what it is, and no one here can say with any certainty that what worked for one person will work for another. Disney is consistently inconsistent.

I have heard about someone being added to a DVC reservation mid stay. But, if I remember correctly, they were added to the DDP for the remainder of the plan (it was a situation where an adult child suprised his/her parents for the last 3 nights).

In your case, since your friend won't be staying more than 2 nights, adding her when she arrives probably would not work (unless she will be there the last 2 days and even then, she would have to go on the DDP).

Good luck and keep us posted as how it all turns out!
