BCV bus service-how is it?

My husband and I have been to WDW five times this year, all at resorts other than our home resort, BCV. However, we have observed that the bus that serves BCV also serves the Dolphin, Swan, Yacht and Beach Club, and the Boardwalk. Whew, quite a line-up for "deluxe resorts." We have been spoiled by the dedicated bus service to and from AKL and wonder how slow or packed the buses will be when we finally stay at BCV in December. Any seasoned veterans out there want to give your "two cents?"

Trampslady,

It is funny that you should ask this question, because my wife and I were just discussing this last night. The only thing that we have ever complained about at the Beach Club is the transportation. We have sent letters, talked to managers, and even replied to the surveys that they have sent out, that this is something that definately needs to be fixed. In the past we had better service at the All Stars, and it won't even compare to what you have experienced at the AKL.

We will be there in Oct. and here is wishing that when the buses pull up they are not already full. Good luck, the rest of the resort we feel is the best on property and you will undoubtably love your stay.

If you are relying on the bus transportation epsecially to the MK be sure to leave plenty 1 hr plus of time. The EE morning to MK there were over 200 people in line and when the bus arrived it was 2/3 full. Also the bus rides home from the parks at any time of day we found were crowded and had longer waits than even the value resorts. If you have a priority seating somewhere do not use the bus transportation! You cannot rely on it! We had a 65 minute long trip to the MK one afternoon and missed a PS!!

Wow this is really interesting - we were just at BCV in early August and didn't really experience any issues with the bus service. We have traveled to Disney many times and stayed at various resorts and we didn't notice that BCV was any better or worse that any of the other resorts we have stayed at. In fact, Coronado Springs has 4 bus stops within the resort alone!!!

We didn't have any over crowded buses but we also did not travel to and from the parks early in the morning or late at night, which may have helped.

I think October may be better since it is less crowded - good luck

Having been to BC and/or BCV many times, this is the one complaint that I have. Bus service is slow. (It is the same with all the Epcot resorts since they all share the same bus). I really think they need to split the route up more. On a good note, you only need the bus for MK, AK and DTD. You can walk to Epcot and take a boat to MGM.

Thanks for all the responses. Who do we offer "suggestions" to with this in mind? I know it most likely won't make a difference but they don't know if we don't tell 'em. I would like to e-mail/write to the powers that be regarding the number of deluxe resorts all on one bus line.

We also just got back in August and had no problem at all. To and from MK the stops were YC-BC-BW. So whether we were coming or going we were always the second stop. Either AK or DTD (I think it was DTD) stopped at Swan/Dolphin as well but that was it. MGM was boat and Epcot was a walk.

We rarely waited more than 10 minutes and many times it was timed just right. We usually left at 8:30 AM if we were eating breakfast away from the BC or around 10 AM if we ate local. Most return trips were at park closing.

WOW! And I have always heard so many complaints here about OKW buses! I can honestly say, I have NEVER allowed an hour to get to any park on a bus from OKW. Now if I am returning from another resort and have to transfer through DTD, that can take a long time, but we usually get GREAT bus service to the parks. The only park I feel is a problem for OKW is AK.

Do you think the bus is a problem from BCV because it is run with several resorts rather than just Y&B?

We were there the first two weeks in August but never had any trouble getting to MK. When you go to AK it stops at BB 1st then on to AK so it takes longer. DTD and Typhoon Lagoon are on the same run. But all and all it wasn't bad. I thought the boat to MGM was poor. We waited for it many times then it moves so slowly. We walked sometimes to get there faster.

trampslady,
We just returned for BCV and really didn't have too much trouble with the bus. The one morning there was a large crowd waiting to go to MK, there was a BC employee working and when she saw the crowd she radioed for them to send a second bus. It showed about 5 minutes after the first bus departed. We didn't have any problems on any of our return trips. We did have to wait for a second ferry one morning (EE) but that wasn't a long wait either
Also visited BCV in May (mom's day) and never experienced any problems getting on a bus or long waits.
I'm not a good at waiting, I'd be renting a car if I ever had to wait an hour for a bus.
I'll be going back on Oct 3rd, will let you know how the bus is at that time of year.

I would recommend a rental car, the buses are usually late and crowded. If your traveling with small children and strollers it can be a real pain.

Owning at BWV and BCV and staying at Dolphin for business purposes has provided insight to this issue. There clearly is a lot on "the run" of the Epcot Resorts bus lineup. However in an unofficial count my wife and I have found there to be more busses. We have stayed at Contemporary and the Institute and noticed less congestion but fewer busses running. In the end, it pretty much evens out we feel.

I am still trying to find out whose bright idea it was to have five deluxe resorts share buses. Whatever happened to the Swolphin having its own bus?
