We are planning to go the end of next August and are hoping to stay at BCV in a 2bdrm. How difficult do you think it will to get that room at that time of year? TIA :thumbsup2

I don't know about August, but fwiw, we did this: We made reservations for a 2BR @ BCV on 9/9/09 for check-in on 2/21/10.

You should not have any problem. The last half of August is not a peak time, as kids are starting to go back to school.

That's what I was thinking/hoping. We have gone that time of year before and stayed at WLV. Beautiful resort, but I wasn't feeling all of that dark wood in the August heat.

We booked BCV this year for the end of August right at seven months. We were unable to get 2 Queens in the second bedroom, but did get in. I'm guessing that your chances are really good because a lot of schools are back already and the heat makes it a less popular time of year.

It will be our first DVC trip completely away from our BWV home, but we figured the kids were ideal SAB age and with the heat, a lot of pool days would be nice.

We were able to switch into a BCV 2br at the 7 month mark in August of 2009...we then waitlisted for the 2 queen beds and got that as well:cool1:

I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but was getting ready to post my own thread with the same question about the beginning of August/ end of July at the BCV. How hard is it to get 2 studios or a 2 bedroom during summer time in general? We would love to go back to the BWV, but SAB was totally calling our name on trip last week, and we'd love to try it next summer!

We got a BCV 2BR for later this week at the 7 month mark. Wish I had thought about waitlisting for dedicated!

I booked a 1br for early August at 6 months out and had to futz with my dates a good bit to get a room for 5 nights. I ended up needing to rebook for late August to accommodate a change in plans and it was really tough - this was at 5 months out from the new dates. I couldn't get the 2br and had to again play with dates to get something that worked. I had the 2br waitlisted for a while, but then canceled the WL since I decided I didn't want to borrow points for it. (We're 3 adults and a child, but I didn't want my MIL to have to sleep on the sofa bed.)

I hope you have better luck than I did! I'm sure things would have been different if I'd been able to book at 7 months out...

I'm brand new to DVC, but I was under the impression that 2BR dedicated and 2BR lockoffs were the same category of reservation, and that you couldn't specify one, other than to make a request noted on your reservation. Is BCV different in this matter?

I have a 2BR reservation for SSR in December. When I made the reservation, I wasn't asked if I wanted dedicated or lockoff. The reservation confirmation I got in the mail says dedicated, but I assumed there was still a possibility that I could be assigned to either one upon checkin. Is that not true? I'm fine with either one. But it would be nice to know that I could reserve one or the other if I wanted to.

Dedicated v. lockoff is always a booking category - but they won't ask if only one is available. Your reservation will state what you got.

BWV only has lockoffs, so you never get asked.

At BCV, there are actually 3 types of 2 bedrooms - lockoff, dedicated (1 queen, 1 double sofa) and dedicated w/2 queens.

Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, in that case, the sleeper sofa is a queen.

The sleeper sofa in the living room is queen, the one in the second bedroom is a double.

If you can't get what you want, won't the YCV fill the same needs?

YCV?

Since you are going during the slower part of August, I am confident you will get the reservation you want especially if you book at the 7 month window. Good Luck and have a great vacation.:cool1::banana:

We are BCV owners. We used to book in mid-late August to take advantage of the point drop. Kids here in NJ do not return to school until after Labor Day. So you never know.

But I would certainly book my home resort, call at the 7 month window, and waitlist for BCV if it was not available...... I had BCV booked for F&W this year, in October, and had to cancel a few months back (I am sure I made someone else very happy).

We used to ask for the dedicated 2BR, with the 2 queen beds. And to get even more detailed, we would request the rooms with the entrance to the 2nd BR off the entrance foyer. Some rooms have the 2BR entrance off the living room, by the outside wall. If the pull out sofa is in use/opened, it made it almost impossible to squeeze by the bed to get to the kitchen, etc. We had a family that used the pull out couch in living room each night..... we booked at 11 months, so it was usually available to us. It was not a major deal, of course! Just a request. ;)
