Has anyone heard of any sold out use years at BCV???

Anyone who is in the process of buying/talking about buying, know what is available?

Reason for asking-My brother is wanting to buy August, but his guide is saying "August is sold out- we are selling September." I am telling him to push for August or even June as he wants to travel in August when his kids get in school. September would sure suck for that.

Thanks for you help!

Ask for another guide - sometimes another person is willing to tell you more than another. But it's entirely possible that those summer use years are sold out just for the reasons you spoke of, people trying to schedule summer vacations.

I called the DVC info number on the DVC sales page, and they connected me to a guide at BWV who confirmed w/me that all use years are available.

I am disappointed in my guide for basically not telling the truth to my brother about the availability of use years and pushing that Sept use year on him. I hope he can get everything straightened out to his advantage. I have told him to call her immediately to take care of it! And if she is unwilling to help he needs to change guides! I will update later when I get a call back from him.

hi, we were just there at the dvc open house and we are in the middle stage of purchasing the vacation club, we were told that sept. is the only use year that they have for right now, we wanted march or april because we vacation in feb. or march. but sept was the only one offered to us. if you find out anything please post, because i would like to change my use year before its to late. thank you! ;)

They can sell any use year available but one may not be able to use the MB. I wonder if your brother was trying to use MB, he might or might not be able to on an August use year since we're so close to the 6 month booking window.

The available use year has something to do with timing of your purchase. For example when you purchase now, your use year is backed up 4-5 months so that is why sept is offered now. If they were to give you Feb, they can not give you the Feb 02 points as that useage time has finished, no way to use points that are already expired. It is to your benefit to have the use year back dated as you can take advantage of MB and either sell back the points, or bank them into the next year. I suppose if you are willing to forego the 02 points, you could change to a Feb or Mar use year, but you would be missing one years worth of points that way. Also I am sure they are holding on to some points for member add ons later in the year when it gets close to sell out.

what you are saying does make sense, we banked our mb points before we left, because we would have had to use them by the end of feb. and just getting back, and still have to close, it would have been to late to use them. i didnt know if you change your use month you would have lost your mb. thank you for the info, we will just stay were we are except maybe increase our points before we close, dvc said we can do that, as long as we didnt get to close to closing. thank you again. cant wait to make ressie for the next trip.:) :)

When I bought in December, I was offered an August or November use year. September was never even offered. Do the guides all have different years to sell?

Off subject, but I just wanted to say "hello Kathy!" I haven't heard from you in awhile. Had a great recent trip - stayed in a BWV and now I know why you own DVC! Had a wonderful time! Hope you are well!

I agree with Dean. They've moved out of the August Use Year and onto September so people can still use Magical Beginnings. I'm sure it was a misunderstanding.

I think guides can sell anything they want. Since I wasn't up on the whole importance of Use years at the time, I just took the first use year offered to me, which was March. I pre-purchased BCV in March.

I think everyone else is right about the MB though.

We bought into BCV this January- at that time they were offering an August use year- we wanted October- it was no problem at all for us to change it to an October use year. Maybe it's harder for them to go backwards?!?!?

Update so far:

He has not gotten ahold of her yet, but I assume will in the AM.

Your MB comments may explain the problem, but she still lied saying that August was sold out! That is what I have issue with. She should have explained the situation if that was the case. When I called, the guide I spoke to (not the one in question) said w/my August use year that I needed to add on before April (my 50% banking window). So I would assume the same rules apply to new purchases.

Either way I will let you know what happens when I hear from him :)

PS. Hi Anna! Glad you had a great stay at BWV! Maybe we will be welcoming you home in the future :) We are all well. Thanks for asking! I hope you all are too :)

I wasn't there and didn't hear the conversation. And I'm the second not to defend the guides, Rich is the first. I can see where if they were discussing MB and then an August use year the guide could say it was unavailable. That would sound like sold out to many. That would imply the 31 January banking deadline for using MB for August. That would be different for an add on as you might get away with the 31 March date (50% window). The guide would have no reason to lie that I can think of so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

That's a very reasonable explanation. It is true that that August would be "unavailable" for MB. It's not true that an August Use Year is unavailable. The context of the whole conversation is needed. Sounds more like a misunderstanding than a lie.

Ok here is the update as promised!

Our guide just called him back. He was able to switch to August use year w/o any problems today for some reason :) , so all is good! He is using MB, and the August use year did not cause any trouble w/that. Apparantly there was some sort of misunderstanding between them the other day! He keeps changing what was said, so I think he does not even know! First he said she said sold out. Now he says maybe she said unavailable. Either way it was available. She just needed a little nudge :)

If you want August, our guide said they have 1200 pts left!

That's not very much! **If accurate**, this says that August is virtually sold out, and may not last to the end of the week. A very rough calculation says this is about 0.4% of the August points, i.e. 99.6% sold out. Even if your guide meant 12000 points, August is still close to sold out.

Are you saying that the August use year is virtually sold out at BCV? If so, that makes me twice as glad that DH said "Yes" to my recent plea to purchase 100 points at BCV. I'd mentioned it a few months ago, and he said "No" in an "end of conversation" kind of way. When I heard about MB, I made a list of "Why we need 100 BCV points-NOW!", presented my list, got him on a night when he was just home from an international business trip and jet-lagged so he wasn't thinking too clearly to resist (mean, maybe, but I really wanted it to work). Now if August is almost sold out too-wait til I tell him how now I'm twice as glad!

That is the figure our guide told him when he asked her to check if August was available. If it is in fact right, then August is VERY close to being sold out!

Congrats on your add on :)

Perhaps I have been going merrily along, not concerned about my use year, as it has not affected me thus far(I think!!), but can someone explain the ins and outs of "use year" importantance?

Thank you, as always for the expert info.
