BCV-Any use years sold out? UPDATE on Page 2 :)

The way I look at use year importance is this:

My use year is August. I like that month because I would never travel in the two months prior to my use year anyway (too hot!). Normally if you book, for example, a trip using points a month before your use year month and you have to cancel, you must be able to travel before your use year comes up or you will forfeit those points. Does that make sense? Because I know I most likely would not travel in July, for example, I don't need to worry about it so much. If you always book in July though and your use year is August, and something came up and you had to cancel your trip...if you did not use those points before August, you'd lose them all.

That's how I look at use year. To me that's the only importance of it.

I hope that helps! I'm terrible at explaining things :)

Thank you, as always for the expert info.

Hi nezy!
The importance of use year only plays a role in the event you have to cancel a trip. For example:
If you have a Sept use year and have a trip booked in August, but end up having to cancel a few months before your trip for whatever reason the points must be used by the end of August or they are lost; because, Sept 1 is when your use year switches to the following one. While if you had an August use year, you would have until the following July 31st to use them. Giving you plenty of time to reschedule your trip, or bank them according to the guidelines.

This shows the importance a particular use year can play! It is best if you know when you want to travel to get a use year in the same month you want to travel or just before you want to travel.

He is saying September is the month they are selling right now. I asked him if the month matters, because I intend to travel in March, and he said "doesn't matter at all". I am a bit skeptical on this point. I think I understand the cancellation implications from a previous post, but are there any booking implications ? Note that I intending on using DVC on an every other year basis.

Of interest, still offering $10 MB for BCV. Said other Orlando Disney properties were not available.

pauld2.. There is no difference at all in use years when it comes to making a reservation.

If I were you and I really wanted something different, I would be insistant.

The problem is assuming that your vacation habits won't change over the next 39 years.

In a way yes and a way no. There IS a difference in how you use your points and which points (current, banked, borrowed) you will use based on use year. If you have a December use year and are making Nov ressies, you have 2 potential problems. You might have to borrow points and all points will be at risk for losing them if you have to cancel late even if it's outside the 30 day window.

OTOH, if you wanted to schedule December, you'd need to either bank, use THEN current years points or borrow. Those are potentially much different transactions with different risk levels.
