Hello,
I am starting to get information in order to plan a trip for our family for next Spring Break ( April 12-19, 2003). We had been concentrating on renting from a DVCer at OKW, but I just learned of the BCV units. Now my curiosity is up! What do you all think are the chances of a new owner renting out a week (especially during that peak time) rather than use it themselves? Will the studios ( as much as we can possible afford) be as large as OKW? I appreciate any and all advice from all of you. This site is invaluable to me!

Thank you for your time,
Terri Cooper

I answered your similar question on the other thread -- Here it is again.

The point cost is the same as for VWL or preferred BWV rooms. At the 7 month mark, all DVC owners can make reservations at BCV so you might possibly be able to arrange a rental. I am assuming you are talking about April 2003. The BCV doesn't open until July.

In 2003, April 12 is Magic Season -- 14 points weekdays and 32 points on Friday & Saturday. The rest of your trip is in Premier Season -- 19 per night weekdays and 43 points for Friday & Saturday nights.

If you are checking out on April 19, a studio would run 141 points. That is a lot of points, but maybe someone will be in a position to part with them.

An OKW studio would be slightly larger but with the studios, the space difference is not that major. Something that is different -- a BCV studio will have a queen bed and full size pull-out. An OKW studio will have 2 queen beds.

That is one of the Easter weeks next year. There are various factors to consider:

1. That is the highest point cost time of the year under the DVC program (along with Christmas Week). Though you can probably get a rental from a DVC member at somewhat less than just going through Disney, it will not be that much cheaper. In other words, don't assume a DVC rental for that week is really going to save you a lot particularly if you can find discount rates at other hotels. You also have two weekend nights built into your trip (April 12 and 18) when points needed are substanitially higher than weekdays. The ideal rental from a DVC member that saves the most money is a Sunday arrival and Friday departure (and one that is not during those Easter or Christmas weeks).

2. DVC operates on a 11 month/ 7 month reservation window. A member who owns at OKW can reserve 11 months out there but only 7 at others, a member at BCV will be able to reserve 11 months out at BCV but only 7 at the others, etc. That time of year almost all space at any particular resort is reserved with the 11 month window. Those trying to get in at 7 months often find little available. Thus, the only sure way for you to get BCV is to rent from a BCV owner at 11 months out and I have doubts you are going to find a lot of new BCV owners renting time for that 2003 Easter week in May of this year (11 months out).

3. The studios at OKW are about 376 sg ft; they are expected to be close to 360 at BCV.
