We just returned from a stay at both BCV and OKW.
At BCV, we were in a 1 bedroom on the second floor - room 266. We had a corner balcony which gave us a bit of extra space. The room was located right around the corner from the elevator - although we never heard any sound from it. We loved looking out over the pool and the canal with our new friend "chomper" as our DS8 named him swimming back and forth. Both our kids enjoyed seeing the alligator out in the "wild" and watching the soft shelled turtles. As temping as it was to feed the gator, we did not.
The room we stayed in was actually the second room assigned to us. The first one was somewhere on the 3rd floor and as soon as we walked in the room, we knew we couldn't stay there. Someone (housekeeping, were assuming) had put the oven on a self-clean cycle and not only was there a terrible odor in the room but our eyes instantly began burning and watering. We put the kids outside and I called to request a different room - there was still a long time left on the timer for the oven. They kind of gave me a hard time about trying to get a different room. The CM kept asking me why we didn't want to stay in that room. Eventually I told her that it would save us both a lot of time and trouble if she'd just come to our room and see for herself what the problem was. She willingly changed our room for us. I'm assuming that's how we ended up with the nice corner balcony room.
SAB was nice but I was kind of surprised that the kids didn't have more fun there. They definately enjoying swimming but I suspect they would be content at any pool.
We had a non-planned cash night at OKW because our DS2 got very sick and we didn't want to travel home with him as sick as he was. We absolutely loved OKW!! We always have our own transportation and don't rely on Disney buses to get us where we want to go. OKW gave us a feeling similar to HH. Our kids enjoyed just hanging out in the Community room. DS2 actually felt well enough to play with some of the toys they have there. DS8 loved the playground and jumping around in the sand. We were really pleased with our night there. We will probably plan our next DVC trip to stay at OKW.
DH and I both commented how relaxing this trip was compared to the others we have taken. We attribute that to DVC and the assurance we'll be back soon than if we were not members. We are already looking forward to planning our next trip!
