The more I read more I ? whether a 1 bdrm. at BCV would be big enough.... from pics it looks like when the bed is folded out you cannot get to the balcony.... tough to have that morning coffee if someone is sleeping there :D

We are a family of 4, 2 DD's 13 & 15...... anyone tried this with 4 people?

Can four fit???? Sure, seven or eight can with sleeping bags on the floor.

Will four be comfortable? We stayed three in a BWV one bedroom and wouldn't do it again. We will be doing it again this weekend, but only for one night, then two more nights with me alone in the one bedroom.

When that couch is pulled out at BWV, you can't get anywhere. It takes up the entire living room.

With the ages of your DD, I would think about two studios ( I think there may be some connecting studios) and let the girls have a room of their own ( If they are anything like my DD's the "mess potential" in your "living room is frightening :o LOL ) . We've done this with kids of 8+12 and it was a little tight. Unless you really want the cooking facilities, this could be an easier option for you all. Failing that I would consider OKW instead, the one bedrooms are considerably larger and would suit you better IMHO.

I did not stay in the room after I woke up, made coffee and took it with me and strolled the grounds. Our 1 bedroom had a slider both off the livingroom and master bedroom. It would be easier to gain access to the balconey from there with the sofa bed pulled out. Enjoy your trip

We sleep 4 very comfortably in a one bedroom, but our two daughters are still young.

You can get to the balcony, but be careful moving past the pulled out couch, because I scraped my leg heading for the balcony last year. I wouldn't worry too much about waking a teenager walking to the balcony. Don't you need a blowhorn to actually wake them up? :D

Personally, there is no way I would get 2 studios over a one bedroom. We love the kitchen facilities, in room washer & dryer, Jacuzzi tub, etc - and find it really adds to our vacation enjoyment. I'd spring the points for a second bedroom before I'd give up the 1 bedroom! :) The only time the sofa is in the way is when the girls are sleeping. We fold it up as soon as they are up and moving.

I would give it a try before worrying about it too much. If you want more space, then OKW is your best bet (as many will point out over, and Over and OVER). If you want the amenities of the BC, then carefully walking past the pull out couch isn't that big a deal - at least to me.

Have a great trip!

I think it really depends on you and your family.

Plenty of people go on vacation and put four people into a studio and do fine. I had a friend in high school who had five brothers and sisters, his parents and grandmother, all in a house that couldn't have been over 1,000 square feet and had a single bathroom - and they lived that way every day, not just for a week.

But a lot of people feel cramped with the kids in the living room. A lot of girls that age won't want to share the pull out couch. Some people solve the bed taking up the entire room problem (along with the "I don't want to sleep with my sister" whine) by not using it and putting the kids on aero mattresses on the floor.

Its a trade. A two bedroom with your daughters would be great - but do you have enough points - or enough money? Will it require you to shorten your trip? If you can afford a two bedroom without it impacting something else that's a priority (i.e. not being able to eat anything but beans and ramen because of the add on, or only being able to stay for four nights rather than a week), get the two bedroom.

We're looking into buying at BCV --- really can't afford enough points for a 2 bedroom for a week stay at the time of year we would go..... The sales rep stated we would be fine in a 1 bdrm..... but after reading posts I started to wonder. Wish some of the 1 bdrms had 2 beds instead of a king.

However, on our least trip we spent 8 nights in Port Orleans and had a great time - so maybe we would be just fine in a studio?????

We're trying to decide if DVC is right for us.... it's a tough decision but something we'd really like to do. But, we don't want to feel like we've wasted our money though by staying in cramped quarters. Then we may as well just rent at a moderate. I sure wish this decision was easier :)

It really depends on what you are looking for in your vacation. As you stated, you have stayed in a regular moderate hotel room and been fine. I beleive if you were fine there, you will not have a problem in the 1 bedroom at BCV. Just don't count on using your living room as a living room. Since the kids are sleeping there, you can't use it a night or first thing in the morning. The advantage is you will have the kitchen and the washer and dryer, plus a seperate sleeping room from your kids. I also have childern and stayed in a 1 bedroom for the first few nights and then decided to move to a 2 bedroom. The kids wanted to spread all thier junk all over the living room and I bought DVC so I could have a living room to actually sit in! Now I have one to sit in after they go to bed and the kids have thier own room that I basically don't go into (kind of like at home) and they can spread all thier stuff whereever they want.

There are no connecting studios at BCV.

OMG...richyams....you crack me up!!

Now that's one way to stretch out those points!

I agree! We've been able to fit up to 11 people in one, but not for any longer than a week. ;)

Please let us know how you fared when you return. I am particularly interested as my DD's will be 13 & 15 when we go early next year!

We have much younger daughters, but we've been very happy with the one bedroom. We were able to access our balcony from the master bedroom, and with the TV also in that room, once the girls were asleep there was no reason to disturb them.

You should be fine. We've taken at least a couple of trips with 2 teenage boys on that pullout in the front room. Yes, you can get around it!

You may have to be a little tolerant of mess in the front room, and, if they are typical teens, not be too set on having the front room to use much if they sleep in late, but it will work.

When the boys hit 18, we tried a 2 bdrm. Now , that was heaven. Beware! if you go that way, you may never go back.:D

As others have pointed out, it's all a matter of your expectations. If you live in a 6000 sq ft mcmansion for a family of 4 where everyone has their own suite, no doubt you will feel cramped with 4 people in a 1 bedroom. If, however, you were happy with 4 in a room at port orleans, you will no doubt be thrilled with a 1 bedroom at BCV. You will have the privacy of your own bedroom. The bathroom is ENORMOUS and might even make it easier to get ready in the morning. Even if you don't really use the kitchen, we love having just to make hotchocolate and bring back leftovers at night, cereal in the morning etc. The washer and dryer are awesome as you can really pack a lot less and just toss loads in whenever it is convenient. Sure, you won't be able to use the couch as a couch while your girls are sleeping in it, but we have had people stay on the couch before and had no problem folding it up (with bedding and all) so that it felt more like a living room during the day. Chances are your teens will want to stay up later than you do and not the other way around, and yes you CAN get to the balcony with the bed out. It's not as spacious as with it folded into the couch but you're just passing through!

I wouldn't let people scare you. I swear, if I had found this board before buying into DVC I probably wouldn't have (from all of the complaints, horror stories and "opinions" here)... but really, you know your family the best. Go with your instinct... if a room at PO is fine for you, a 1br will not only not be "settling" but it will be downright luxurious!

Oh my goodness!!! Well, if you guys fit comfortably at PO, I don't think you have A THING to worry about!!!

Just to fill you in, Richyams usually stays in an OKW Grand Villa, so he's not the person to ask if you can fit four in a 1 bedroom!!! Oh my, it just cracks me up thinking about!!!

We fit four all the time, it's no problem.... we also close the couch as soon as DS wakes up.... but in the meantime, just be sure to request a room that has access to the balcony from the master bedroom....

Oh, I think the bathroom in a 1 bedroom is about the size of your PO room, so you really don't have ANYTHING to worry about!!!

I almost forgot, did you know that you could take virtual tours of the resort villa's at the www.DisneyVacationClub.com website? That might help you better visualize the rooms!!

You'll be fine. My kids are smaller (and perhaps meaner) but last year we survived in a BCV studio! OF COURSE the 1-bedroom will be fine. Your master bedroom is big and lovely and if those girls are bugging you, hide out in there. I am a points-miser. I like the extra tripsthis affords me and I really can't imagine not loving the 1-bedroom if your comparison is a normal hotel room.
