BC/YC or BCV -- make the call

For a "1st night" prior to long BWV stay, where do you stay and why:

  • BC. Get 2 rooms for party of 8 and divide.

  • YC. Get 2 rooms for party of 8 and divide.

  • BCV : Get 2 studios, divide (and hope guests don't like it better than BWV when you move!)

  • BCV: Get a 2 br, share (again, hope they like BWV as much!)

  • Other (but remember -- it's Sat night, only 1 car that seats 5, and 2 fams involved -- one with 3,

We will be getting our BWV ressies made soon, and BIL/SIL and their fam will be our guests for that stay... they have graciously offered to provide Sat night stay before our Sunday check in. They are more or less leaving choice to us. Based on prior threads and examining situation, looks like BC/YC or BCV would be best bet for the one night... the next day we could eat at Cape May for bfast, check in at BWV but enjoy SAB all day, and mosey over to BWV when we were ready to.

So... knowing this (and it's a group of 8 -- one fam 5, one fam 3), which choice in poll do you make?

Hello: Depending on when you're going, have you thought of the Swan? Thay have some awsome discounts> Check it out.

I agree, the Swan and Dolphin are offering very good rates and will probably be the least expensive option for that location. Here is link to their website.

I believe all of the guest rooms have been refurbished to Westin's standards, which are pretty fine.

I was going to suggest the Swan or Dolphin as well. Wonderful pool area with waterfall grotto, slide and bridges, (3-4 pools?), maybe 10 restaraunts, gift shops, convenient store items and food available 24hrs. It's nice to find out about potential eating places nearby.

Unless they are fully aware of what a $$ rental for a 2 bedroom is I wouldn't book that. IMHO it might turn into a bit of a nasty shock for them, it might also give them a false impression of how much you are "paying" to provide them with accommodation. They may feel they can't turn down that idea, but be a little suprised/shocked at how much those units cost on a daily basis.

Depending on the kids ages you could offer them the choice of 2 rooms at Y/B club, (it would be the most convenient for changing rooms) or you could, probably for the same price or less get 3 rooms at the Swan/Dolphin so none of the kids have to share a bed. If you get connected rooms each pair of parents get one child in their room and the other two kids get to share the third room, the kids could all have a "slumber party" if ages/sex mix is acceptable so each set of parents get a night without having to share their room. As far as using SAB don't forget you have the use of that on your "check in day" anyway, so you wouldn't have to be in the Y+B club the night before you check in to be able to use it on your check in day. I've found in those situations it's better to give the person paying the $$s the choice of a couple of options and let them decide on how much they want to pay.

We did think about Swan (it has the queen beds, right? Dolphin I thought I had the dble beds and might be cramped...) However -- it would just be so nice to have the WDW resort to move the bags over for us.

Also -- BIL/SIL would like to try SAB, and since our "big" stay is at BWV, the only way to do that is to stay there one night. Then they could use the SAB that night and well into the next day while our bags are transferred over to BWV. I could even check in at BWV then walk back to BCV and join 'em in the pool!

As for pricing -- the irony of this is that the 2 br villa is cheaper (unless some sort of non-AP related discount comes through) than getting 2 BC rooms. 2 rack-rate std view rooms at BC would be $578 (plus tax). A 2 br at BCV would be $545. Two studios at BVC would be the same as 2 BC rooms (289 each, total 578). If I could get DVC discount, do the math further and take 25% off -- that would be an even better deal with the 2br villa (now $408.75 for the night, plus tax.) The most I see from AAA for the BC rooms would be maybe 15%. To rent pts (at $10 per pt, let's say) would be $640 for 2 studios, or $750 for a 2 br, because it's a Sat. night.

I voted for the BCV 2 Bdr.

With the prices you quoted being about the same, this would be a good choice. The 2 bdr will give more privacy than the 2 studios, even if it is for 1 night. You will have access to SAB for the weekend (sat and sun)

If you get the DVC discount will they still move your luggage? (I honestly would like to know for future reference)

Im sure you'll let your family know the costs for one night so they know what to expect.

Or you could go the AllStar Route for one night since they will move your luggage and then your family will REALLY love the BWV!

I think they will move it -- I know they moved my sister's stuff from VWL to OKW.

And yes, the guests are aware of cost... and it is just one night. I think it sort of puts a "value" to what our trip is worth, personally! We acutally stumbled onto this idea because we were trying to explain what pts we could afford for trip, and guests offered to help "pay" for some nights, and we had to educate them on the relative (no pun intended) costs, etc. We agreed to go BWV std view to conserve on pts. Then, looking at recent developmts around check-in, we offered that if they wanted to help (and to add a day to the stay!), they could pay for just one night -- the Sat arrival night. If we don't get in until 3 pm, it's not a huge deal. For only one night, we won't be too too concerned with views, etc -- and NS will be a med request. We'll be in the pool, anyway, making the most of our wkend SAB experience! THis way our guests will get to experience it too. DH and I had planned that after the 8 nights with guests at BWV, our little fam would move over to BCV and enjoy it for a few more days. With one night under our belts, hopefully DH and I will know better what to request when we return to BCV 8 days later!

We can also use the good restaurants around there for that one night and the next day (Cape May, B&C, etc). That should put a great start to our week, and also tide us over til we hit the grocery stores and stock up for our BWV stay!

As for the All Stars -- you know, I actually did think about that! THe 'impression" factor would be pretty good, huh! I am a tad concerned that BCV will spoil them, but BWV is so nice too. I will say, however -- I don't think I'll get the 2 queen room if available at BCV. It will be much more fair to compare apples to apples, sofa beds to sofa beds! :) Guess I'll request a lock-out, to compare most fully with BWV!

I voted for the 2-bedroom at BCV. Since it's the first night, you'll want to recover from your travels and having the kitchen and the big tub will certainly help with that. And keeping everyone together, especially in the beginning of a trip, when you still like each other ;) is great too! And if you aren't doing the parks the day you check-out of BCV and into BWV, you can spend your afternoon at SAB, maybe a burger or sundae at Beaches & Cream, and have your bags moved by the concierge people.

But whatever you decide, you'll have a great time!
