Long story short have booked the BC for November 2011 (way too far away but can't get back before then) for my next (second) solo trip.

For my first solo trip I stayed at the BWI, as I'd stayed there before with family/friends, and had a great time. I love the Epcot resort area but want a change, I've stayed at the YC before too but I'm not a lover of the theming, especially the new rooms but I absolutely adore the new BC room decor.

I see lots of posts on the Dis about 'adults' staying at the YC over the BC and it's got me worried, is the BC really not such a great choice for an adult/solo trip?

There did seem to be more kids at BC when BF and I (childfree) stayed at YC a couple of weeks ago. BF went over to BC to get something from Photopass and came back and said that I had chosen (YC over BC) wisely because BC was "overrun" with kids. They do have a character breakfast there which probably contributed to the number at that time. I liked that I was guaranteed a balcony at YC, which was the main reason I chose it over BC. The pool is same for both, so that doesn't matter. There were plenty of kids at YC too (it is Disney, after all) - I was kind of surprised by the number at Yachtsman's Steakhouse, where we had to step over a kid who was sitting on the floor next to his table, creating a hazard for customers and staff. Captain's Grill for breakfast seemed to attract more adults (the kids were probably over at Cape May), but you can easily walk over from BC. So, I think you'll be fine at BC.

Thank you :)

I had a pretty similar experience at Yachtsman too

Clare, you will be fine. Beach Club is a very nice resort. By the way my friend, I am definitely planning on an England run this next summer. . .must meet and also get your advice.

I've stayed at the BCV many, many times as a solo and I really like it there. One nice thing is that there are lots of solo conventioners around, so I think the BC is used to seeing solos. And I highly recommend the Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast solo. For one thing, you won't be the only solo there (note, the conventioners) and the service is excellent-the first time I went there solo, I had 2 servers, one who was my server, and another who checked up on me regularly. As a solo middle-aged woman, I normally wouldn't dream of being in a bar or lounge by myself. However, just last night (I'm posting from WDW) I had a margarita in the lounge by the BC lobby (it's over by the former Ariel's resturaunt-can't remember the name).

You've picked the best adult, and I'm guessing solo location in all of WDW. Close to Epcot, close to the Boardwalk, also a convention magnet, all the resorts there are top-notch as your comfort (and enjoyment) level should be off the charts. Im struggling to find a way to get back (its been over a year) and applaud you for planning way ahead. You've got a great trip to look forward to. Don't forget to post pics!!!
Cheers,

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

Darcy, once you get your dates sorted let me know - we'll definitely have to meet! and of course I can give you lots of advice.
