BC or Poly

OK, I'm having some issues deciding on a resort. We have stayed at BC the last two trips, and are completely head over heels in love...it's all I think about 24/7, I wish I could live there!

But, for some reason I am just intrigued with Poly. I know that so many DISers call Poly their favorite resort. It would be a little bit more expensive for us to stay at Poly this August, which is one reason why we may just stick to BC.

A little background: kids are 2, 4, 6. We go in August, so we spend a lot of time at the pool. There will also be 3 adults (myself, DH, MIL)

We will be eating at restaurants around both places (Cape May, Yachtsman, Coral Reef, but also 'Ohana, Be Our Guest, CRT)

I had thought about doing a split stay (unless we get free dining, then I can't), but DH thinks it will be a hassle.

So, tell me, why do so many of you love Poly. Or am I crazy for thinking about "cheating" on BC when we really do love it oh-so-much? :cool1:

I would go with the Polynesian because in my opinion they have a better theme and atmosphere. Plus their rooms are also a lot bigger when you compare them to the rooms at the Beach Club.

With 3 kids, I agree, split stay will be a hassle.

Both are wonderful resorts. We've stayed in both and love each for different reasons.
With having young ones, they would love being able to see the Castle from Poly beach or pool. The resort has beautiful landscapping. And we love watching Wishes from the Beach. Also has fun restaurants, 'Ohana & Kona.

Are you all staying in 1 room? Then def. Poly. The rooms are larger. I would request Tokelau if you are going with GV, because all rooms have balconies. And it's centrally located.

Poly also has great transportation with boat or monorail to MK, and walking distance to TTC for Epcot monorail.

I think it's always fun to try a new resort so I'd give Poly a chance :thumbsup2

We are in the same jackpot this June. We always stay YC CL but us too are drawn to poly. We are doing split stay in June with poly on front end and BC CL on back end (yc had no room!). I thought it was a low risk option to split the stay.

I thought it would be simple to do a split stay...have bell services take our luggage in the morning...go out to a park...and take the bus to our new resort in the afternoon...it doesn't really seem that inconvenient to me...

Although we go the end of August, and if we get free dining, we won't be able to do a split stay anyway...

I'm just afraid that if we try Poly, we are really going to miss BC. What do we love about BC? The pool, of course (and we spend lots of time there), the SMELL (I think about walking into that lobby all the time), Cape May breakfast.

Why do I want to try Poly? The monorail, the theming, I don't know??

It is so funny that you mention the SMELL of BC :) That is what we LOVE about the Poly. The smell of the lobby is amazing! I agree that the BC has a great pool area, but so does the POLY and the view of MK from the beach is second to none. Poly is our favorite resort. the grounds are beautiful, you feel transported to a tropical paradise. We have also stayed at BC, but Poly would be my choice hands down! There is something very special about being on the monorail.

I feel the same way. DD wanted to try poly for 2 nights and this seemed fair. I knew i would still have bc/yc to look forward to if things weren't so hot. But if things were great then next trip I might consider a longer stay here. PERSONALLY the resort is a big deal to me.if I don't like my resort that would really effect my vacation. So to me a split stay is a win win. I would never try a new resort another way.

Do you stay CL at the BC? We love CL and the price of standard poly room is about the same as a BC CL GV room. So if you stayed never stayed CL before that could add a different twist to youur vacation if you aren't ready to make the poly jump. We are a family of 3 and get a lot of use out of CL. i would think a family of 5 could really justify the cost.

Seems to be a common conundrum, and most reviews show equal love for POLY and BC. We have never stayed at either, and it's been terrible trying to pull the trigger on one or the other...weve been booked at both for this reservation. The fact that you already LOVE BC makes me happy. I think we would love it too, but that darn Poly does call to me for whatever reason...good luck in your decision making.

We've stayed at both and, IMO, you can't go wrong with either one. But with that said, the Poly is our favorite :). The BC is a beautiful resort and it's nice being within walking distance to Epcot and DHS, but we love the Poly for the larger rooms, the volcano pool with a view of the castle off in the distance, the beach for watching the fireworks, and Captain Cooks for quick CS meals. We've had great stays at all of the resorts we've tried, but there's just something about the Poly that puts that resort at the top of our list :goodvibes. Good luck deciding, but I think you will have a magical trip no matter which resort you choose as they are both great :wizard:.
