BC Marketplace - no gum?

Hi -

Just back from yet another fabulous stay at BCV!

On our last day we went into BC Marketplace(which we seem to visit at least once a day) to pick up some gum for the flight home - couldn't find any anywhere in the store so we asked a cast member who said that they do not carry any gum at all! Anyone know why? And actually they don't sell gum at MCO either! Is this one of those security things? If so, why don't the TSA confiscate it from you?

No Place that I know of sells Gum on site at WDW. Not even the gas stations carry it. WDW doesn't sell allow it to be sold because they don't want people spitting it out on sidewalks and sticking it on rails and on rides. I guess they figure if they don't make it readly available to people the occurance of gum will be lower since the only way to get it is drive off site or have it already with you. They want the park to look nice which I can say all the walking I have done there I've never stepped in gum!!!!

Gum is not sold anywhere on Disney property. I heard they do that to try and cut down on gum stuck on streets, sidewalks, railings, etc.

I always make sure to bring some with me.

That would be accurate, no gum, due to the fact most of it ends up somewhere it shouldn't.

The no gum policy actually began with Disneyland in 1955. Walt did not want it sold in the parks because it makes a mess when impolite and discusting people spit already chewed gum out of their mouths onto the sidewalks..

Above posts are correct. No gum sold and to be chewed in WDW.
Safer for animals. birds, insects and human shoes.

We pack some in our suitcase for the flight home.
We obey the no gum chewing rule at WDW

yep no gum- AMYWHERE on property! Not at MCO either beczuse of the Disney thing...shows you how much power Disney has down there There is a Hess station and 7eleven right off property (not the one by the car care) if you have a car. We usually just bring some!

I doubt that Disney has any say over the issue of gum at MCO. They aren't alone in understanding the pain in the rear that gum can be when is comes to thoughtless or malicious discarding. I've been to youth summer camps and other places that don't sell gum in their trading posts for the exact reasons as you can't get it at WDW.
