Hi all! We just returned yesterday from our trip. It was so much fun!

We had originally booked concierge at both BC and Poly but changed it to standard/garden view after we found out the baby was coming and decided to put down new flooring in our house.

Anyway - July 14-19 we were at the BC in room 2569. It faced a beautifully landscaped courtyard and the sand volleyball court was on our left. We had a view of the Boardwalk if we faced all the way to the left. A wonderful CM named Janice checked us in - she was so sweet and check-in was a breeze. We recieved a card and balloons from Mickey and Minnie on our anniversary. I was so excited! The room was spotless and mousekeeping was great the whole time. I loved the light, airy decor. We were a pretty good hike from the lobby but there was a stairwell at the end of the hallway that made getting outside to go to Epcot or the pool super fast. We spent a lot of time at SAB - the slide was tons of fun! They were giving out wristbands when you went to get towels, but if you didn't use their towels I don't know how they were identifying people. The pool was never too crowded so I guess they weren't being that picky. Beaches and Cream was soooo good.

We were at the Poly from July 19-24. This is the resort I used to stay at with my parents on family vacations so it was really nostalgic! We were in Tahiti room 1004 (garden view). We really lucked out because DH and I talked my Dad into surprising my mom for her birthday by joining us on the last half of our trip so he booked a LV room and they were put right across the hall from us. It was lots of fun! Our room was nice and clean but it was showing signs of wear. I can't wait to visit again after the rehab. Mousekeeping was great. Of course the landscaping and atmosphere of the Poly just can't be beat! We really enjoyed the pool although it did seem to get crowded - I think we got spoiled by SAB. I had forgotten how huge the rooms at the Poly are. That will be really great when we are bringing kiddos with us. Because of where our room was it was quicker to walk to the TTC to get on the monorail than to the Great Ceremonial House. 'Ohana was fabulous as was Kona. It was also nice to be able to get something quick at Captian Cooks.

All in all a fabulous trip! DH liked the BC best - and although I do love the Poly - I really loved BC as well. Walking to Epcot really is great!

I'd be happy to answer any questions!

You just stayed in our two favorite resorts! We were at the BC 7/2-7/10 - and I agree with everything you said. Mousekeeping was great, check-in was flawless, the new design of the rooms is light and airy. It was a wonderful trip. We're still talking about it and just can't "get over it." The Poly is another favorite resort for us. In fact, we can't decide between the two which we like better. We stayed there last July. Stayed at the Swan back in November for a quick trip, and it was nice too. But, the BC and the Poly are our two faves.

In fact, I just bid on an actual Polynesian resort day bed on e-bay. If interested, go to mousesurplus.com and when you click "for sale" it takes you directly to e-bay. I'm waiting to see if I end up getting one. I sure hope so.

Whether you use their towels or not you have to have a wrist band. THey must know that you are a guest at the resort.

I think what the OP meant was that they were not giving out wrist bands until you went to get a towel, I have read several other people make the same comment.
I am so glad you had a good trip. I can't wait to stay at the BC, unfortunately it will be a while since our next two trips are BWI and Poly, but it is next, hopefully. My kids love the Polynesian and don't want to stay anywhere else, even after seeing SAB. Did you see any signs of the rehab in progress?

Glad you had a great time at both resorts!

Tough decision...new floor or upgraded Disney accommodations! :rolleyes1

Just kidding...I would have went for the new floor also. I think... :rotfl:

Welcome home!

Thanks for the review. Just made split ressies for BC and Poly for our upcoming trip in May. We fell in love with the BC and are nervous about staying elsewhere...but I've just got to try the Poly. It seems to be a favorite here.

I'm pretty sure they had the whole Tokelu (sp?) building shut down for renovations. There were also some renovations going on in the GCH but you would only notice if you had been there before and knew what you were looking for. It was very unobtrusive.

That's cool about bidding on the day bed. I was telling DH about the rehab and was wondering if they will sell the light fixtures from the bathroom? I love thost things. I may get on ebay and look.

Thanks for the report! :sunny: The Beach Club is a beautiful resort! :flower: One of these days I am going to try the Poly. I am so curious about it. :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a great time. WE are going to BCV in late aug. Was the pool crowded at all? As for the towels...this might sound strange but since we are in the DVC we only get one towel per person until the trip is half over..then they change them for us. Do you think it would be easy to take some from the pool? We really love epcot so it should be nice to just walk there. How long of a bus ride was it to DD? Anyway..let me know...it was nice that someone posted such good things about where we are going to stay..

I imagine you could take some towels back to your room. There seem to be tons. I walked back with mine wrapped around my waist a few times when we weren't going back through the lobby. The pool never seemed crowded and we were there at all different times of the day.

The bus ride to DTD was about 15 minutes. The bus service was great - I don't think we ever waited more than 15-20 minutes for a bus from the Beach Club. We only shared with the Yacht Club usually but I think there was once when we stopped at S/D and BWI as well.

Oh No! That is where I had hoped to stay. Are you sure it was Tokelu?

When did they start this renovation? I haven't read anything about that!

What did you think of the Poly garden view compared to your parents Lagoon view? We love the BC so much that we bought into the DVC. I want however to stay at the Poly for part of out trip in the near future. It is so hard to leave the BC/BW area though!!!! :)

I saw those beds too!
Probably shouldn't encourage bidding competition but did you know that if you call ahead you can stop by the ebay seller mousesurplus' warehouse.

I bought a carpet from the GF and a lady I spoke with on the phone suggested I come by in person on our next trip to see what treasures they might have. She did say to call first though so perhaps their hours vary. Doesn't matter what time they're open to me, I can't wait. :hyper:
Besides another visit to Race Rock for DH, that is now my sole reason for renting a car.

Sure wish we hadn't decided last minute to fly. Heaven only knows what I could have fit in my van for the trip home -
"seats? who needs seats? we'll just MAKE it fit..."

Well, honestly, the LV view can't be beat. We could see the Castle, Space Mtn., and the Contemporary by just standing at the sliding door. If we walked out on the patio and looked to the left there was the GF. Our GV was really nice though. We were looking at beautiful landscaping and a path and the building right behind us. I'm still a little undecided about what view I would pay for next time. We could just walk outside and around our building and sit on the beach to watch the fireworks and we saved a little over $500 by going with garden view. It is definitely worth it to stay at the Poly with a gv.

I have a feeling next time we're at WDW we'll be in the Epcot area because DH loved the BC so much and he's the one I always have to convince to take a Disney trip. Although next time we'll have a little one with us so the monorail would be soooo convienent.

Leighe,,
I don't know if you saw my above question....Are you sure it was Tokelau closed for renovation?

Tokleau is the one that faces the opposite way from all the other long houses, and it is right next to the quiet pool. Was that the one? :)

You know what? I don't think it was the building facing the quiet pool. I think it was the one closest to the TTC and the parking lot. I'll check with DH - he was the one who remarked that it was shut down so maybe he'll remember.

i would like to get this for us also.. did you mention this before or when you got down there?

That would be Rapa Nui and it jives with other reports.

Glad to hear you had such a nice trip at both resorts. :sunny:
