BBC axe Red Cap
THE Beebs £10million drama Red Cap starring Tamzin Outhwaite has been axed.
The blonde actress has been told the show is being dropped because it is too expensive.
The Army series pulled in just 5.5million viewers in January.
Ex-EastEnders star Tamzin, 33, is said to be upset with the decision and has already done a deal with ITV.
A Beeb insider said: It is a high-profile victim of a big drama clear out by the BBC to free up more money for new innovative dramas and comedies.
The Beeb still wants to work with Tamzin but she has made it clear she will now take her chance to appear on ITV.
Tamzin will star as a woman on the run in the rival channels thriller Francis Tuesday.
But TV Biz can reveal that she has also already signed up to another BBC drama, When Im 64.
She will play Caz, whose dad Ray (Paul Freeman) turns 64 and starts living as he never dared in his youth.
Tamzin said: Like me, Caz is the daughter of a cabbie, so it was very easy to get into my characters background.
