I see lots of posts that say these can stay in for a couple days. How, if the kid is sleeping on it? Are you packing hair products to re-do it the next morning or does it have enough "goop" in it that it just doesn't move until you wash it out? My DD is doing her BBB appt. on a Friday AM for a Friday dinner ADR at 1900 Park Fare but we also have a breakfast ADR at Akershus the next morning (I know...princess overkill, but how long will my DD still believe?) It would be awesome if the hair was still up from the day before :)

Unless you take it down it should be fine. Also swimming tends to mess it up.

In my experience, it should be fine the next morning. You may need to pin up a few strands, but that puppy doesn't come down until you make your child swim or take a shower.

Oh yeah, that 'do doesn't move! My dd has very fine, "slippery" hair, and I was amazed at how firmly her BBB bun stayed in place! You will be fine for the next morning. :)

It would depend on several factors such as how your child sleeps, is she hot and sweat, gets wet somewhere, etc. I would not leave it in my daughter's hair overnight.

My daughter is a cheerleader so we get tons of glitter and use lots of freeze-it hairspray. Her favorite way to get it all out is to jump in the pool! :-)

My sister got the princess bun hair style when she was 6 and that puppy stayed perfectly for a couple of days. She wore for 3 days and even after swimming and sleep it stayed relatively well - we just had to re-gel and pin again.
That was a pretty big shampoo though after all of that gel + chlorine. :scared:

My daughter wore her bbb bun for four days. Finally we convinced her that it would be fun to jump in the pool. It still looked almost perfect and could have lasted longer.

After 2.5 days of arguing I put my foot down and stood in the shower with my then 3 year old for 30 min trying to get that sucker out. With the water falling directly over her head and 5 rounds of vigorous shampooing I managed to get the gel out.

She then shed pixie dust for a couple weeks...

I completely agree with the uranium post...perfect description.

It will likely stay, but if she has very fine hair, I recommend not leaving it in too long. Definitely take it down before the second night. It can be very damaging to the hair. They pull it very tight. She could also get a headache if you leave it in for more than a day or two.

I have two boys and we did the Harmony Barber Shop last year. I had to take them to a professional haircut place to get that stuff washed out !LOL!

Of course, that's when we saw how bad the haircut was and had to have my youngest's hair cut again to even it out.

Can they do a bun without all the gunk? I don't care if it's a loose bun or that her hair isn't flat against her head like a ballerina. DH wants the bun since it looks more "princess-y." I don't mind which style she gets. DD3 hates washing her hair, so I'm trying to avoid a traumatic multi-scrubbing. LOL!

Do the other styles include all the gunk? If not, maybe I can persuade DH into getting her a different 'do.

I have taken my DNiece now 7 to BBB 2x now both times for the princess bun. She was 4 the first time and 6 the second. We had it done a day or 2 before leaving both times so that she would still have it to show her parents and grandmas at home. The first time it was in longer and still looked good, the second time it didn't last as well. Of course I think her hair was longer and heavier the second time. She is half asian and has very thick hair so I don't know how finer hair lasts. I didn't let her swim after she had it done and it lasted just fine. I didn't have to wash it out since she wore it home but both times her parents said it wasn't bad to wash out.
We are going again in June and she just got her hair cut yesterday. She had a run in with a paper shredder (not on my watch thank goodness) and needed shaping as her hair had to be cut out of the shredder. Luckily she had the sense to pull the plug before calling for help and only lost a minimal amount of haif. One of her reqests was to leave it long enough so she can get her princess bun! So it is now shoulder lengt intead of over halfway to her waist.

DD was able to get 3 days out of her hair style. I had to pin it and spray it a little by day 2, but it still looked good. She refused to take it down until it was absolutely necessary:rotfl:

I know they want those hairstyles to last but IMO they always look way too tight! Some little girls just look awful in that hair style. Why can't they leave some bangs out or a few whisps? Most little girls look like their eyes are being stretched back to their ears! :confused3

I'm the OP. My DD has bangs, and I'll expect them to be left down. I'm also going to ask for it to be a little looser than normal, otherwise I can see my DD complaining its too tight.

They will only do the three styles pictured, no changes allowed. They all include slicking the hair up tightly with lots of gel so regardless of which one you get, you will. Be scrubbing.

Those hairstyles are rock solid. With DD1 she had the twist style done and it stayed for two days then my wife washed it out and redid it with the stuff they gave in the goodie bag. With DD2 she had the bun style and it also stayed two days until we washed it out. That was pretty amazing considering DD2 is incredibly hyper and active. Neither of them complained about the tightness of it.

The only downside I discovered is that with DD1 the pulled back hairstyle really showed how big her ears are. :) Normally her hair is worn down and you don't notice them but with the hair pulled back you can't help but notice. She's not the only girl with that particular affliction either, bless their hearts.

They wouldn't do that for us. Bangs up was the only option because they are not allowed to alter the style.
