We are going in August--first time. Girls have never been there or to Libby Lu. We are going to the castle on our last day for a late breakfast. Is it worth it to go? We would bring our own dresses. Will the hair last in the heat and maybe the pool? Thanks

We did BBB last November (we also took our own dress). It was one of the highlights of my 4-year-old's trip. She got the bun, and it lasted through an overnight sleep, a bath, a nap, and several rides on Test Track as well. She also got two princess meals out of it (she wore it to dinner at 1900 Park Fare and breakfast the next day at Akershus). Although we wouldn't usually spend $50+ for her hair, it was a great experience, and we would do it again. As for the heat, it wasn't hot when we were there, so I can't speak specifically to that, but they PLASTER the hair with gel and spray, so I would imagine it would hold fine.

Have fun!

Is it worth it? Yes. I t took DD on our May 07 trip. We did not buy a dress I took just a sundress it is hot in May. We did the DTD location & PF 1900 Dinner. I got 2 extra days out of the hair just kept spraying it with hair spray.

Yes, it's worth it. It is a dream come true for a little girl. Have fun!

The hair will last FOREVER if you allow it...:rotfl: That is some crazy strong gel they put in their hair!!

We did the full package for both of our girls (we didn't pay for it, it was a gift from someone else), but if we had to do it over again I would only do the hair because the girls complained within 10 minutes of having the costumes on that they were itching, and we still had to do the picture package and dinner at CRT.

My dd is 6 and we have done it every trip. We always bring our own dresses as well & do the hair, nails and makeup. My daughter always keeps her hair in for at least 2-3 days and it stays in perfectly. It is totally worth it in my opinion & my daughter looks forward to it for months.

I think so, totally; my 8 y/o also thought it was the highlight of our last trip. I would get the middle package (hair, makeup and nails) for a little bit of extra money, they get their nails done and take home two bottles of nail polish; well worth it!

My daughter still talks about her BBB experienc. She was 4 when we went and she is now 6. We did the whole package, and her hair lasted for several days. She did have baths but she did not get her hair wet.

Just make sure you make a reservation. I didn't know at the time that you had to have a reservation, luckily they had a walk up open.

Plan on it taking a long time. We had a 6:45 reservation and we didn't get taken back til well after 7 and were done well after 8. I didn't honestly think it would take that long.
My dd who is 10 really had fun even though her fairy godmother was a bit wierd! She loves to look at the pictures I took and it was so funny when we took the bun out of her hair that gel is wicked stong - her hair was so funny - it just stood up and wouldn't come back down like normal!!! LOL!!!

In a word - YES!!! Worth every penny!!!

We did the middle package and just bought the dress. The total was $145.

But look at DD's face!!

She loved every minute of it!!!

Ok, everyone, thanks for all the tips--When should I get it done?

Here is our ADRs and parks for the day--we are not park hopping:

Sat arrive
Sun AK yak and yeti
Monday EP akershaus breakfast
Tuesday MK crystal palace early lunch
Wed EP/DTD Cape May breakfast
Thursday MK Chef Mickey dinner
Friday DHS Sci Fi
Sat MK CRT late breakfast have to leave for flight at 2

My inclination is to get it the last day since we go to CRT. Maybe we coulg get it before park opening? Don't think there will be enough time to get it on Monday before akerhaus. Thoughts?

ABSOLUTELY worth every penny!!! I surprised my DD for the first time with the middle package (hair, makeup and nails). It was totally one of the highlights of the trip. I had bought a pretty sundress and she wore that. They totally pampered her and it was fantastic. The look on her face when they revealed her look I will remember forever! She looked so very pretty!!

It was very hot that day, 90 degrees and it did fine in the heat. She took one dip in the pool and kept her head out. We did get a second day out of it with a little hair spray though it was starting to come apart by evening the second day.

The last day would be pretty magical, and they could wear it home. But I WILL say that all the CMs in the parks make such a deal of these little girls, calling them princess and making them feel special. So for that reason, it might be nice to do it an earlier day. My DD would just beam every time someone pointed her out!

I have photopass pictures of the whole process so if you would like to see them, PM me with your email and I will send you the link! :thumbsup2

I would do it at the Castle on your Crystal Palace day. That way she can have it for the next day too.

She will be amoung many little princess at MK and she will love that she fits right in :)

PS Then reuse the hairpieces and recreate the look for the CRT day.

I would say on the CRT day to make it extra special. It's too bad it's your last day.

Your older DD might enjoy another style other than the Princess Bun style. My DD was 8 when she went ... I believe this is the "Rock Star" style, but I'm not 100% sure:

Ok, I tried to move my ADRs around, but CRT is not available any other day. I made a reservation for BBB for the last day at 8 CRT is at 10:10--we will leave the park at 1:30. This will be the only day we will be able to get to the park before opening (except an EMH day) so I think I will leave it for now. It will be a special last day!

Are you leaving that day? Plane or car? I would think the attention at the airport might be cute, if you are OK with that sorta thing. We've done it twice and have an appt. booked of DD's birthday in July. She loves it! If you check my signature below you can see the slide show we made from her last trip. Have fun!

The other question I have is my ydd did a creative haircut on herself in Dec. She had shoulder length hair--all one length and decided she wanted bangs. So she cut some only 1 inch from the scalp and others a little longer and she cut a clump on the side about half way up. We are much better now, but still growing out. How long does your hair have to be to get the bun style? I have been growing her bangs out and then cutting her hair up to match. It is a couple inches short of her shoulders now. Not long enough for a pony tail. Should I keep growing it out? And wait till after Disney to cut it?

My guess if your DD's hair is too short for a pony tail, it is too short for a bun. That doesn't mean that the FG can't do something wonderful with your DD's hair! I'm sure that they are used to dealing with all lengths of hair. Don't worry and let them do their magic!

They will put just the front up if they have to, don't worry; that being said, I wouldn't cut it much between now and your trip. But w/ the industrial strength gel, they'll get her hair up no matter what LOL.
