Hi

I have two nieces that I'm taking to WDW next year for the first time. They both want to do the BBB. One is 8, so no issues, but the other will be 13 just 3 months before we go. I know it says up to 12 but she's going to only just be over. How strict are they? I don't want a disappointed sister while one gets to take part.

Thanks

I can't see how they would know actually. I never heard they ask for ID. Fake it till you make it..

Are your nieces very "princess-y"? And do you know if you're looking for a dress, or just the hair/makeover? I ask because (I do not have personal experience) I have read on here that dress choices for the older girls are not plentiful and although 12 is the max age allowed, most patrons are younger. Some girls know that and want to be a princess and don't care, but others may not like doing something "little kid". If you find that they are more strict or the older one simply isn't that into it, you can consider Pirates League, where she could do a mermaid makeover. . .

I showed them the pirate one but they still wanna do BBB. I've done both myself (before age restrictions) and prefer Pirates League tbh but I haven't been able to persuade them lol. They just want to do the hair/makeover. I was actually surprised that the older one, Maddy, wanted to do it tbh but they are quite girly so it's prob just for a bit of fun x

I would advise against this. Yes, your 13 year old neice would love to do the boutique but as an aunt, you would be asking her to lie about her age. And she's be doing that in front of her younger sister. Wile both of the girls would be happy, that's an unsettling thing to do. Think about how you would feel if your niece, in a few years, decided to do something else she wasn't supposed to do because of her age and it turned out to be illegal. Just something to thing about.

I think it's a shame they made it a younger age tbh. Everyone used to be able to do it :(

Good point! Maybe the pirate league instead...

Yeah, I would skip it - it's not like a spa - the makeup is extremely limited, so she'd likely be disappointed anyway. Besides that it would be teaching her to lie, and that the rules don't apply to her.

They added the age limit because it was selling out too quickly, little girls weren't able to get in, and big girls were disappointed and complaining it wasn't a full makeover.

While it's not the same as BBB, all of you can get pixie dust sprinkled in your hair at castle couture for free. Just go in and ask a cast member :)

I'm not saying it's right but last March my 18 year old cousin did it because she looks young for her age (I would bet the CM's knew she wasn't 12 though).

I think a 13 year old would feel a little silly with a BBB getup. I think that unless your tween is wicked confident this will not be the fun experience you all wished for.

With the age differences, I would probable schedule something fun for her while the younger one got all filled up. Senses at the grand will do mani pedis and they are just a monorail ride away

My DD will be 17 when we go in Dec and is very disappointed that she can't go to BBB! She was 10 last time we were in Disney and love it! She almost cried when she saw the age limit. :(. Big girls want to be Princesses too!

Have you thought about maybe doing the Princess makeover at Ivy Trellis Salon @ Disney's Grand Floridian?

I took my girls there last August. I was beyond happy with how they were treated. Their hair was not scraped back into pony tails but was curled into princess curls. They got tiaras and pixie dust as well. I opted out of makeup but they could have had that as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that the stylists at the ivy trellis are licensed. They are not at BBB. It made a difference to me.

I do not know how I missed this option. My sister is a special need adult and I did not get her to BBB before there was an age limit. She always says see wished there was something like this when we were kids. I may have to do this the next trip.

PLease look into this. My Pinesses were in Heaven. Their Mom got them in their Princess attire (you know that eveyone needs a gown when you plan to dine with Royalty in a Castle) before we went. After they were pampered, and you can choose what you want, they strolled around the Grand, leaving a lot of admirers in their wake. It was very sweet, and I was very impressed when CM's came out of their shops to chat with them. They really did enjoy the whole experience. My DH always buys something special for all of the girls on vacation, so the two little ones got this gift from him. I will try to figure out how to post a picture
