Heya-
I have friends who have gone to Disney over the years, and their daughters have the princess dresses and want to dress up as the various princesses for Halloween (all different ages). princess: A couple of them have been to BBB in the past, and when they were looking at the pictures, it was OH, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could do that for their hair here? So I thought I'd ask on here and see if anyone has a how-to home makeover kit for a BBB hairdo?

I haven't found one online, and I don't have kids so haven't had the experience... :confused3 From what I'm looking at (tons of different pictures online), is it really just a slicked back with product (hair spray, gel, mousse) pony flipped around, then sprayed with glitter? Or am I missing something entirely? We're looking for the Fairy Tale Princess hairstyle- high bun on top of the head that the tiara can pop into/over.

Thanks!

:goodvibes

I have been able to recreate the BBB bun in my daughter's hair a few times. They used a clear gel... LOTS of it... to get the hair slicked back into a high ponytail. Then the used the small, clean rubber bands to make what I call sausage links out of the ponytail. (Every 1.5-2 inches there was a rubber band and this was done till almost the end of the ponytail.) Then they folded/rolled it up, starting from the tail and rolling that part under, until you got a very perky bun. I cannot remember if there was a rubber band to secure that in place, but at that point they used bobby pins to fan the hair down on the sides. They were liberal with the hairspray, too. Is this as clear as mud? Hope it sort of makes sense... :confused3

It can easily be done at home. We have to do the same style for dance.

1. I know this sounds kind of gross, but start with hair that hasn't been freshly washed. Clean hair is very slippery and much harder to work with.

2. Use gel, lots and lots of gel. We've used both clear and glitter gel, depending on what the dance studio asked for.

3. Comb the gel completely through the hair and bring it up into a high pony tail.

4. Split the pony tail in half and roll the top half forward and and spread it out enough to make the front half of the bun. Secure with bobby pins. Do the same thing for the back half.

5. Use lots and lots of hairspray.

It's wicked easy. I was the head hair designer for our college theater program for 2 years, and have done hair and makeup for community theater off and on for a decade. It's really just a high ponytail pinned up into a bun with a boatload of product to make sure it will stay.

For a fancier look, you can do a high ponytail and curl the ponytail, then clip up the curls.

Thanks for the help! We will definitely post pics!
