I am considering making reservations for BB or possibly the BB PTN package. When I try to reserve a table for 7 it says there is no availability, but 6 will work fine. Is there a limit on party size? This trip we are taking my boyfriend and his two children so we will be 2 adults and 5 kids, age 8,9,11,11 and 12. I'm not completely sold on spending the money, but would like to know if it's even an option.
Also...my 11 year olds cannot eat an adult meal (and probably wouldn't eat the offerings). Can they split or order off child's menu and how would they charge us?

Thanks!

Call Disney Dining. You best bet for larger parties is to request "first seating" for either lunch or dinner. If they can set the tables before they open it is LOT easier on them rather than waiting to combine tables later and you will have better luck.

It probably just means they don't necessarily have accommodations to seat 7 together because of how many people have already booked. Larger parties need to book fast to be able to all sit together.

I agree with calling Disney Dining for specifics, each situation is different and to avoid surprises your best bet is to go right to the source.

They won't let the 11 year old order off the kids menu. They might do double the portion for double the cost though.

You can split a meal. If you both want sides, they can do a split plate charge for something like $12 with double the sides and you just split the entrée. My daughter and I did this on our last trip and it worked great.

Thanks guys! Our window doesn't open for a couple of days. I called just to check and dining said try at midnight on opening day or call first thing in the morning and they will put us as 6 with a note for one extra. The price with 5 kids (in my mind, anyway ;-) , 3 of which will be charged an adult price, makes me think we'll probably stick to counter service anyway!

For the dining package they would probably charge everyone applicable the adult price ($62) and will NOT allow a split plate charge - you're paying for the package not just the meals in this case. They would probably still accommodate you with an adult portion of a children's meal though. If you just want to eat there everything posted above as a money saving tip holds true.

Yes, definitely agree no split plates for PTN packages. We just did that for lunch one day (no package).

My daughter ordered off of the child's menu as old as 12. I guess it depends on how big your child is. But I never had the staff make a fuss about it.

We had a party of 7. Grabbed a 4:30 reservation and requested waterside at check in. Only a 20 minute wait! :) Loved it.

I'd be a little leery of booking as 6 plus one extra though. For that money I wouldn't want any hassle or surprises as check in. We loved our food. With allergies, it can be hard to find a good meal that's not bland. I would pay for BB each trip it was soooo good. Still dreaming about my risotto and chicken! My 11 yr old got an adults portion of the kids Mac n cheese. We did PTN package so yes, she was charged as an adult.

When we went in November as a party of 14, 2 of the guests were 12 & 11. We were doing Fantasmic! dining and they were also allowed to order off the child's menu, the waiter actually asked the Mother if she would prefer a child's menu. I'm sure this is not the norm, and I would never go expecting this, but they could not have been more accommodating with our party. I agree that it probably depends on staff, child size, etc........and it may have been that the Adults way out numbered the children. This was by far our favorite thing we did the whole trip. Everyone really loved the food and then priority seating for Fantasmic! was an added bonus.

It does get very pricey when traveling with kids and paying what they are asking for little eaters. The only place we have continually had HORRIBLE luck is at Storytellers, I don't think their buffett is worth it for adults let alone a 12 year old. We have tried it probably 5 times over the years and this last time I made a big note to myself not to do it again -- it's just not for us (although their corn chowder is wonderful).

Have a great trip!

When we went a year ago December, my niece was 11. We told the waitress that she was 11, but would like to order off of the kids menu. She said that was fine. And then she only charged us the kids price. We were honest and they knew her age, so it was some nice pixie dust. I would not have been upset had we been charged the adult price. So give it a try, you never know. (They also did this for the WOC package at CC).

(Also, we were a party of 7, 2A, 5C. We booked 2 reservations online, for 4 and for 3 at the same time and when we checked in we asked to be seated close or at the same table. They put us at one table).
