BB-8 Magic Bands... what's the difference??

Has anyone used the BB-8 Magic Bands in the park? What's so different about it from the regular bands??

The ones from the Awaken Summer promotion?
They don't do anything special at the touch points. The only difference is the design and that it's only available to those who booked though the Awaken Summer promotion

ETA: Originally I believe they weren't supposed to do anything special, but there was a rumor in March that they might have a park specific noise at entry points. I haven't seen any confirmation of this actually happening though

I did go back and look and saw that. This was the rumor from when they were announced:

Magic Kingdom: Music from Mickey’s new stage show will play.

Epcot: Music from “In Summer” will play.

Hollywood Studios: Sounds will play music from the Imperial march, BB-8 sounds, or TIE Fighter sounds.

Animal Kingdom: Rivers of Light music will play.

Blizzard Beach: Sounds of Kristoff and Sven.

But I haven't seen any confirmation of any of these happening.

The biggest problem I see with it is that the MK and AK sounds are not currently in the parks, so they may not activate at the touch points

It's suppose to make sounds upon scanning it. There are various limited edition and exclusive bands that have specific noises they make. That's really the only difference in that regular bands don't make special sounds

The travel dates associate with the Awaken Summer promotion, the BB-8 band comes from, does not begin until 6/12. My guess is you will need to wait till after that date to get a confirmation. But the list you have is correct and should be expected if you have the BB-8 band the is associated with the Awaken Summer promotion.

6/12...... I thought it began the past weekend... my bad for asking this untimely question.

Yep! They were the blue bands with BB8 on one side and "Awaken Summer" on the other

Their are two BB8 bands that I've seen. I believe both are identical aside from the band color. One is blue and one is orange. One is the promotion band and the other is sold in the Disney shops

The promotional band is blue.

I Was there may 30 to june 6 with the BB8 magic band. I don't ear often the sound because of the crowd but It makes rainbow color at lot of touch points. At Hollywood studios It is orange with the voice of BB8, A CM find It super cuuuute!

In fact most of CM did not saw the special effect of that magic band And find It cool. We booked the first day of summer awaken package, i saw a lot of purple magic band but A very few of BB8 (3 with mine)
