Bazzill paper and Cricut question

Hey all!

I am using more Bazzill paper after hearing people talk about it here on the boards. I also bought a TON when our local scrapbook store went out of business Great deal, but sad to lose my "fix."

I am having trouble using the Bazzill paper on my Cricut. It seems like the paper is almost...too fuzzy? Lint-y? It sort of leaves residue on new mats, but the mat has to be super sticky or it doesn't stay put during cutting. I hope I am making sense.

Is it just me? Is it my machine? Is there a "right" side to place down? Thanks for any help you can give!

I have the same problem but I find if the mat is not as sticky that it works better. I simply press the paper on the mat much harder then I would normally with other papers. I also find that cutting deeper and at the lowest speed helps with getting the pieces cut completely and no ripping. I had to play alot with the settings last week for that very same reason to be able to work on my swaps.

I don't tend to use a loy of Bazzill on my cricut becuase i doesn't cut very well. If you have a brayer and can run that over the paper to help hld it own that makes a difference. Also try there smoother cardstock instead of textured- I find smoother stock works better.

Someone on here suggested using blue painters tape to tape the edges of the paper down to the mat. I do this with my glittery paper that doesn't want to stay put on the mat...it might work for your bazzill issue too. Sorry that you are having that problem. I know it is soooo frustrating when you spend forever cutting a paper piecing out and it's fuzzy shreds.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am planning on doing a lot of cutting and scrapping this weekend. I'll let ya'll know if I figure something out!

I have to use only the Bazzill smoothies on my machine or I get similar results. My problem is finding it, seems like no one carries it anymore.

I use a lot of Bazzill with my Cricut. It does wear out the mats faster but I try to keep a few newer ones on hand for bazzill. I also make sure I have a flat surface and rub my hands over the paper so the mat gets a good surface contact, especially getting to the edges.
Also when you are done with your mats for the day, gently wipe them down with baby wipes (huggies are good). That will take the lint off, just don't rub to hard or it will take the glue off.

Once the new mats are a bit used they work better for thinner paper. Then when they are to worn for thin paper I use them as stickle stations. The mats usually have just enough tack left to hold the letters while I stickle or glue and glitter them.
After that I give them a complete wash down with Goo-Gone and either cut them down to cover for mini album covers or I reapply adhesive with either big zig pens or repositionable spray adhesive.

I like all kinds of papers and find that if i use the scrapper type thing that came with my yudu to smooth the papers down it works on all types of paper and is great with vinyl. I also like to use cheap vinyl with my yudu. so much easier and clean up a breeze.
