Bay of Fundy Tides & Wines (HA11)

I am looking at booking this excursion if available on an upcoming Canada Cruise. Can anyone here provide a review of it - preferably someone that has taken the tour?

What I specifically want to know is does the excursion actually stop at the Bay of Fundy to watch Tides or is it a drive by? From the description (see below) it looks like a drive by. My mom really wants to stop at the bay so I do not want her to be disappointed.

"Travel through Halifax and Dartmouth as you learn of its history and points of interest before driving through the Evangeline Trail, where you will see evidence of the world's highest tides at the Bay of Fundy."

I haven't done this tour but being from the east coast here I would recommend posting on the Canadian Disney thread. There are a lot of local Haligonians there and they may have more info. The Bay of Fundy is huge and the evidence of the tides, abundant. I believe the Evangeline trail takes you into the Annapolis valley which is a beautiful area. HTH!

We are doing a similar tour through a private company this fall. We used this same company two years ago for a different tour and they were just wonderful. I highly recommend them. The company is opentoptours.ca. Their Annapolis Valley tour is the one that sounds similar to what you are looking for. As they do only private tours, they will pretty much take your anywhere you want as long as time allows.

I have not been on the tour, but I live in Nova Scotia. It does sound like a drive by from the way it is worded. I think it is about an 1.5 drive from the port to Grand Pré by car, by tour bus you are probably looking at closer to 2 hours each way. There are car rental places at the Westin Hotel beside the Port. You could drive up to Grand Pré and spend as much time at the Bay of Fundy as you want. There are lots of places to have lunch the Blomidon Inn is nice and I believe has a view of the water. You would also save a bunch of money. The drive to the Bay of Fundy is fairly straight forward You would even have time to visit the statue of Evangaline.

It's unlikely that your excursion would last a full tidal cycle to fully appreciate the difference. You would need about 8 hours.
