Bay Lake Tower refurb dates

Are the items plugged in related to the murphy bed?
I don't recall seeing items exposed like that where the pillows would go in any other murphy bed.

I don't think there should be as big of a gap between the artwork and that wood piece underneath. Probably just installed wrong or something.

You can see the gap is much smaller on this murphy.

Do some murphy bed's have the castle and other's Space Mountain? Is that based on room type?

@katied picture is most likely the bed pulled all the way down. In the one you are showing from DVC fan you can see the bed is at an angle and thus the wall is not fully exposed.

Interesting. I went and looked at the murphy beds at other resorts and there aren't really gaps at all. So weird if these have a massive gap like that.

Just to add I don’t believe I have ever seen a cord running up the middle like that either.

I wonder if the people doing this refurb are from the company that Disney fired from the SSR one.

Curious which resorts you think would be best for young kids? I don't think I would have put BLT at the top, even before the refurb, I guess.

Personally, I really like the new look of these rooms! Never had any desire to stay at BLT before but now it's looks more inviting to me. Maybe we'll give it a try someday.
BLT proximity to MK for midday naps, etc, is the main selling point IMO. Also love the floor to ceiling windows and spacious living area + banquette (RIP) that could actually fit my entire family for a meal. What’s the point of small kitchen tables in the 1 and 2 bedrooms? That’s a pet peeve for another thread.

In the MK area I think Poly is pretty clearly the best for young families. I’m biased of course because we own there. As we’re about to have our 4th child, I tried and failed this summer to swap Poly for BLT (head over heart decision for the point chart, location, functionality, etc), but I’m very glad that didn’t work out! I was maybe a bit stingy on the parameters of any such swap 😉

some people will hate it and some will love it. Guess that is the best part about DVC. If you don't like a certain resort then you have plenty more to choose from.
that is a good point and should be considered when people are buying resale at restricted resorts. Buy resale Riviera or Disneyland Villas or the Cabins... and you better not be picky in the future. As refurbs will happen and if you don't like it, you have no choices.

I'm so glad they're getting rid of all the tables in studios. I always wondered why anyone would want to have a place to sit, eat and work comfortably when they can have some empty floor instead. Maybe next time they'll get rid of other useless features like beds and showers.

Poly is fantastic, but CLEARLY the best for YOUNG families?

Let me make a counter argument for the CLEARLY line:

1. Bathrooms. BLT has 2 bathrooms in the 1 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in the 2 bedrooms. Once you have had 2 bathrooms for a family of 3 or 4 you will never want to go back. This knocks VGF and CCV out of the equation.

2. Transportation. You cannot get an easier walk than BLT. You prefer to shelp a stroller onto a boat or monorail every time you have to go back to your room for a nap?

3. Disney Adult Alcohol Culture. You are more likely to be around people drinking alcohol at Poly than probably any other Magic Kingdom resort. I would state that there should be an inverse relationship between the amount of alcohol consumed on a premises and its desirability for young families.

4. Parents of young families have bills (diapers, snacks, clothes, school supplies, birthdays, additional airfare, etc) and BLT is significantly less expensive (ppp and point chart) than POLY for a Villa.

This all speaks my language. Love the walk, love the point chart. And extra bathrooms? Say no more!

Sort of off topic, but I’m still surprised you can get alcohol on premises at WDW. I get that resorts probably have to offer it, but it’s still a neurotoxin that messes with people’s ability to make better choices. Some people are more affected than others when drinking, but we are all affected. It sort of makes me sad, because I know that somewhere out there, some parents’ drinking at WDW turned what should have been the best day for those kids ever into the worst day possible, and that will be those kids’ core memories of Disney.

Does anyone know if there’s a full length mirror somewhere in the renovated studios?

Not sort of off topic, that was entirely off topic.

Yeah, one of my joys is seeing all 6 grandkids like peas in a pod eating there.

Who has amazing skills and can post the size of the old table vs new table?

Thanks to all who shared pics! It's very helpful for our upcoming BLT stay.
