my family is looking also at the bay lake tower as our 2nd choice but have major questions since we do the magic kingdom most of the time during our stay but have always wanted to stay on the monorail.
1. How far of a walk is it from Bay Lake tower to get to the monorail at the contemporary?
2. How far of a walk is it by minutes to the magic kingdom?
Please help thank YOU.

It's also worth noting that the path from CR/BLT to MK has its own security station...VERY effecient getting to the park with hardly ever a line. The walkability factor from both CR and BLT to MK is such a HUGE benefit in our minds.

If you can, walk, walk, walk. In May we almost missed a ADR at MK, another time after waiting a good 20 -30 mins, we were told there were issues with the monorail. Ended up walking.

We were using the monorail to save DH steps since we were only renting a disney wheel chair. This trip we are renting a chair off site.

is there a side entrance or something? cause out front the few times I went always had a ton of people

MK implemented a new security setup this Spring, so things are much different now. Security is no longer at the front gate, it's been "pulled back" to various points. Monorail resort line riders go through security at each resort before boarding; TTC guests are screened at the TTC; boat guests are screened right when they exit the boat on the dock; bus guests are screened in their own area between the bus plaza and entrance.

Everyone still scans their band/admission at the front gate, but the security part is what's pulled back. Hope that makes sense!

Definitely walk to Magic Kingdom. The monorail has to go three stops before Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary. It's a really short walk. Depending on when you leave the park it might be good to walk back, like after fireworks and thousands of people are headed to the monorail.

We stay at BLT on a regular basis and the walk is about 5 mins at most. We don't take the monorail ever since it takes much longer just to make the loop. Even on the way back at night we just walk since it is quicker than waiting in line for the monorail to show up.

The walk is about ten minutes at my pace. It's half a mile, so it depends on your pace.

We walk both ways, but we have taken the monorail home if it's in the middle of the day (not at park closing or after fireworks)

I agree the walk from BLT to the MK is around 10 minutes.

the skyway is attached between the 5th floor at BLT and the 4th floor at CR. - so walking can verify greatly depending upon what floor you are on here. so anywhere from 5 minutes to 13 minutes. (can be longer if the elevator stops more)

BLT is our home resort. It is absolutely fantastic. Very accessible to the Contemporary and the Monorail but also the buses. It is a very easy 5-10 minute walk to MK. The resort has a great pool and the rooms are great. Good luck with your decision.

DH and I must walk fast. 5-7 minutes tops from our room to the tapstiles at MK.

Also, do not take the monorail TO MK unless you really like the scenic route. Full loop to get there.

Yep to that. The ability to walk to MK is the best thing about staying in bay lake. When we stayed there a few years ago it took us 15 minutes to walk there as out pace was slower walking with small children.
