We have booked a MK view grand villa for next july. We had wanted to host a small party in the room for our anniversary. Having had a bad experience with an MK view room before I wanted to see if anyone on here had some answers

I know there are 6 mk view villas on front side of BLT..and then there are sets on both curves sides. One group faces Contemporary and other faces...I dont know what.

My fear is that these are also considered MK view even though they are not on front of building. DVC is not giving me straight answers on this.

Thanks for any help

either the MK or Lake

they are on the highest floor = so the views are good.

we did see one that was only Lake view - none of the MK - but it sleep 14 not 12. don't remember where the extra 2 people were?

thanks for the information. So the views for wishes would still be good?I guess my fear is I plan something for a year and then we check in and get a villa with a "decent" view and our guests be disappointed.

I thought teh rooms could sleep 14..but they only post for 12 comfortably. there are 2 pull out sleepers in there??

From the diagram, the location of the MK views looks like you will get the MK view since the GV's are in the center of the building. We stayed in a 2bd that had a beautiful lake view, which is what you get on the other end away from the Contemporary. We were the 2nd unit away from the end of the building, that's quite far from the center location of the MK views. When we went on the balcony, we had a great view of the MK. The lake view was incredible, it took up the whole window! And there was no parking lot view either!

thanks so much Donna. i tried asking dvc on phone but the person didnt give me an real answers.

I think the following info is located in the annual planner. At least I've read it somewhere on the website or in some DVC literature. BLT, AKV - Kidani and VGC all have sleeping arrangements that could technically accommodate 14 ppl but the occupancy is still 12. They explain that the extra sleeper (which is in the sitting area upstairs between the other two bedrooms) is simply to provide extra flexability in sleeping arrangements.

A BLT GV ending in 26 or 30 may only have views of the fireworks on the balcony. The reason I say that is that we stayed in a studio on the 10th floor, 8028 and we could not see any of the fireworks from the room. It's because the front of BLT curves. So when your villa is south of the center line you are starting to face more towards Seven Seas lagoon (Grand Floridian) and CR. But from the balcony we had a great view of the fireworks.

In fact someone reported on the thread mentioned above this comment,
8426 MK view (GV) (direct view of Grand Floridian, MK 30 degrees to the left)
But I would have thought it was 30 degrees to the right.

this was in the tour - the cm stated this one GV was occupany 14. He stated it as a fact -even when questioned by several of us.

so either BLT has an exception -or he was wrong. He did not sound wrong or unsure.

remember the BWV plus studios that sleep 5 - they are still around do to the fact that a bunch of members wanted them - they are no longer available for members to book.

guessing this is the same thing - as long as just a few members want it - great - but enough members decide to sleep 14 instead of 12 - it will also disappear (at least for members)

Thanks for the input and information everyone. So far sounds like we will get a good view no matter what

However i was just concerned at those north facing bay lake GV's that our still on outside.

We would have a about 25 people there for a party and am not sure all 25 of us can fit on a balcony if thats was only way we could see fireworks.

I think i will continue to hound DVC as we get more into the trip planning.

you can go to tow with your guests and see the fireworks.

you can even walk back to your rooms...and no even take the elevator.

there are some MK views that can see the fireworks from their livingroom.

And we all know the guides are always correct. I heard a guide tell people on the tour over at BWV many years ago that the sleeper sofa in the studio was queen sized. He repeated it over and over while we were there.

thanks everyone.

Hopefully we are among the lucky and get a central room. would be nice to be able to have some just sitting in living room and seeing fireworks. wouldnt really work if we could only see from balcony.

we still have time so i will just check back and maybe put in a request...even though i know they wont hold it.

thanks

Here's the info from the member website for the BLT GV. I think the guide may just have counted sleeping spaces and decided that was the occupancy. :confused3 My bet is that MS would not reserve 14 adults.

2-Story Grand Villa Vacation Home

•Sleeps up to 12
•Master bedroom suite with king-size bed
•Two additional bedrooms, each with two queen-size beds
•Queen-size sleeper sofa in living room

•Flat-panel TV and DVD player in living room, and flat-panel TV in master bedroom and both additional bedrooms
•Full kitchen includes: coffeemaker, dinnerware, glassware, flatware, pots and pans, microwave, toaster, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and more
•Dining room with dining table and chairs

not sure he was a guide - the guide gave the presentation. he showed the rooms.

hey still remember Samatha Brown saying the sleeper sofa in the livingroom was double and the bed in the master was a queen....

but at least she could be excused. with the queen bed next to the sleeper sofa you can see it is smaller.

:rotfl:

I would think the balcony capacity for safety reasons would be the same number as the occupancy. No way would I put more than that on it.

We had a MK view GV for one night last October. We had the most fantastic view.

Don't forget, however, you have 4 balconies - 1 downstairs off the kitchen/dining area and 1 off the master bedroom, then 2 upstairs off the other 2 bedrooms. When we stayed there, the adults were on the downstairs balcony while the kids were upstairs.

My eldest daughters slept on the sleeper sofa in the area between the 2 bedrooms upstairs and they could see Cinderella's Castle from their bed :thumbsup2

We stayed in a GV in January but had a lake view which was awesome. I believe that all the GV's are on the 16th floor which should give you a great view of the Magic kingdom. Also the Top of The World lounge and observation deck are on the 16th floor and can be accessed from the second floor entrance of your villa, which means you don't have to go down to the lobby and be escorted up by staff. You will need to take your room key with you to get through the doors accessing the lounge if you are on the 16th. The observation deck for the fireworks is as close as you can get without being in MK to see them. If I am wrong and all the GV's aren"t on the 16th floor take your party to the observation deck and have some cocktails while you watch, the view is spectacular and the music is piped in through Mickey Mouse speakers. If you don't want to put all 25 on the balconies in your villa, which may be dangerous anyway, your living room has a two story window and the shades open all the way to the ceiling. Soooooo jealous.....have fun.

Is everyone staying at BLT on points, if not going to the TOWL is not going to work as each guest will need ID.
