My husband and I are doing a weekend getaway in August and we've booked at Bay Lake Tower. We've never stayed there before -- is the theme park view really worth the extra money or would you go with a lake view? Thanks!

Personally I would rather just pay for lake/standard. If we’re at the resort during HEA we watch it from the bridge, and we get our “fill” of staring at the MK from the elevator banks.

Theme park view would be awesome but I find it hard to justify it.

Depends on how much time you plan on spending at your room. We stay Themepark everytime because we have non park days and a little one who doesn't always make it so late. We end up watching a lot of fireworks from our room. Here are some photos I've taken over the years.

Sorry some of the photos loaded twice.

Apparently plenty of people feel it is worthwhile or they wouldn't be filling those rooms.

To paraphrase Henry Ford: Whether you think it is or think it isn't worth it, you're right.

I prefer lake view. I found the fireworks to be loud. They shake the windows and set off lots of car alarms in the parking lot.

You can easily watch the fireworks from the bridge.

IMHO the BLT theme park view rooms might be the best view on Disney property. My family stayed in a 1br villa there last August. There is nothing like waking up each morning and looking out at the monorail, Space Mountain and Cinderella's castle. And at night the views are even more spectacular. It's everything that you think about when being on a Disney vacation.

I wish I could post pictures. I loved my Theme Park View. It was so nice to be able to sit on my balcony and watch the fireworks. If I had it to do over again I would choose theme park view again.

We stayed in a 1BR lake view 3 times, and lucked out twice and got a room where we were able to see the monorail, castle and space mountain too. So amazing especially when our kids were younger and we couldn't do late nights. They loved watching the fireworks from the room in their pjs. Nothing beats the "theme park view" from BLT!

LOVE the theme park view at BLT. If you're already budgeting for BLT, the incremental expense for a TPV isn't that much more, and it's well worth it if you have little ones. My 4-year old loved watching the fireworks every night in her PJ's, and we were able to get her baby sister to bed before they started. If it's just you and your husband, I would say it depends on whether you'll take full advantage of the fireworks view, or if you would be just as happy to watch it from the bridge (and/or from MK, since it's an easy walk back).

I love the Theme Park view. We watch the firework show from the balcony, its so nice not fighting the crowds for a spot or to leave at the end of the night. It's probably my favorite room on property.

We stayed in a 2 bdrm TPV and it was amazing! We got to relax and watch the Halloween FW and regular FW. So Magical. Plus, it was cool watching the park “wake up” in the morning. We live by water so a water view wasn’t as exciting as seeing the MK which was the reason we were there. Glad we upgraded.

I lucked into a theme park view at our only stay. (Yes, also parking lot view...)

I loved it. We are often tired in the evening and it was nice to just enjoy the fireworks from the balcony rather than leaving the room. The view is lovely, with space mountain, the castle, and the monorail.

I guess I’d ask what is your plan? Are you going to be go go go? If so, it worth it. But if you plan to sit on the balcony in the afternoons or nights, and want to see that view, sure.

My husband likes to sleep in and I’m someone who hates sitting inside the room while at WDW. I think theme park view is worth it for me because then I can be happy sitting on the balcony still feeling like I’m in the middle of all the action while DH rests. There’s so much to watch from the BLT TPV... castle, sparks from the castle during shows, the train, grand Floridian, buses going to or from MK, the ferry boats, electric light parade, fireworks, people walking, and we could see the CR pool from ours too. It was never boring sitting out there but with the lake view... there isn’t as much to see in my opinion but it is very pretty! If you don’t relax in the room much then lake view.
